What a shame the "A" Qualifier didn't score. Anyone else get the results from the "A" heat?

Many top drivers sat round 1 out because they concluded the track was too dirty to set a fast time. This year isn't done by conventional round by round qualifying, your fastest two times are added together. This means that to get anywhere near the front end you need to be on the track at the fastest times of the day with new tyres! The last round of the day has been known to be one of the quickest at this track once the weather start cooling down so all drivers who sat out round 1 will be out for round 2 with new tyres!

Gotcha...I guess there is no chance of rain then It's a shame really! The largest race for europe and half the races won't be run do to a poor tire choice and lack of tires. I understand they are trying to control cost, but this is stupid!

At the German forum there was a comment from Uwe Rheinard, Marc´s father. As all of the Euros from the last 4 years were held on rainy conditions there was a rule change from point system to laps/time. Now there are dry and hot conditions and drivers don´t want wasting their (limited) tires and are waiting for the track to cool down. This is bad for the spectators and now there is a team manager meeting because of this. We will see what´s happening.

Wow, this kinda reminds me of Formula 1's struggles to get the cars on the track during practice and qualifing a couple of years ago. Hopefully they will make a change.

The stupid thing is that if it rains using the two best times is even worse than the points system. The rule change was a mistake and many people warned about it beforehand. Add to that a track that is much slower when it is hot, tyres that are about 5-8 secs faster when new and a limit of two new sets in 5 qualifiers... Not the best decision ever.

But, even if the rules are not changed now, everyone will probably run the remainder of the heats to get times in and then run the 2nd new set in the last qualifier tomorrow. Unless someone decides to run new tyres in the 1st round tomorrow, skip the 2nd and run rear tyres from both sets in the 3rd. Would be a risky approach though.

Hi and good morning from Montbrison, France.

Racing is very exciting on this technical track.

I will be updating my blog's media files whenever I get some free time.

For the time being check out these photos I've uploaded from Thursday & Friday.
