Default rollout

i recently purchased a DB12r ive got an lrp sphere esc and lrp 17.5 motor and according to lrp the roll out should be 68mm should this apply to all tracks regardless of size . i know there are several pinion/spur combos to get the roll out so do i use small gearing for small tracks and large gearing for larger tracks or run the same gearing set. This is my first year running onroad/electric racing so im trying to get as much knowledge as i can

Gearing will vary slightly for track size and how fast the track layout is. Tighter tracks require a lower rollout. The variance isnt too much though. Keep an eye on your motor temp.

I have a question about front droop. I am not seeing much at all droop running the .20 Linear springs in a setup matching yours Jason that you just posted.

What is the recommended way to measure droop on the front and back?

I am giving the car a run tonight with your setup ( my old setup was the servo up on an angle, and pretty much the box stock config), so this is quite a large change in setup, we'll see how I fare

Umm what are you referring to? The kingpins or the damper tubes? for Damper tubes I just put a couple drops on the end of the tube, and then move the damper shaft in and out a few times to distribute it around. For king pins... I am not sure what grooves you may be talking about.

To add droop to the front remove a kingpin shim. I like to have about .010 of a gap between the steering spindle and the lower pivot ball when at ride height.

It is the grooves on the damper tube.

Ahh thanks! I would assume from the top of the kingpin where the 3 shims are stacked, you just axe one of those.

So I took jasons setup nearly exactly and tested it out today. I played with Camber and toe a bit on the front and didnt have 20,000 weight but I had 30,000 so I used that.

The car was very consistent, not as numb as before. Even turn-in and power out of corners, no real snappy over steer. Quite nice and fast. I didnt hit my fastest time on the track (10.1) that I set last weekend. But I did run a good number of laps consistently in the 10.2 - 10.4 range which is a big improvement.

The car seems easier on the tires now by a good bit... I had no issues with uneven l/r wear, or ballance issues.

Cant wait for race day

I did find neutral toe was the way to go on the front, I tried a degree or so neg and pos and both slowed the car down. and I am running between 1.5 and 2 negative for camber (still testing).

I coated the front kingpins wiht the 30k weight above and below the lower pivot ball and that smoothed things out quite a bit up front.

Cool deal buddy. Try seeing if you can get your hands on some 20k diff oil for your next race day. It will increase the reaction of the car a little and may be that little bit you are looking for.

Whats your whole setup?? Maybe we can help you dial it in a little more. 30k is bit much, I think. The most I use is Red Sure Lube.
