Tried some more new stuff on the Kyosho today..............
Red clutch shoes and softer spring. I was pretty impressed with these two items on a lower grip track. I am using 37-35 shore to get grip. The clutch still kicks in hard like a normal centax with the softer spring, but the impact is less disruptive to the vehicle balance and of course it accelerates a little less hard. The red clutch shoes actually slip on the clutchbell and act very similar to a slipper clutch on my B4. Really smooths out the low end punch to a low end "slip". If you are having the car spin out on power due to the clutch hit I think these may be a pretty good idea. You do lose acceleration of course.
Active differential. Frankly I thought this think was a bit cheezy when I saw it. Did not really look like it would be a good buy. Anyway I got it so that I could more easily control on-power acceleration and on power steering. Well let me tell you this thing worked like a charm!! Tighten the screws and the car accelerates noticably faster and harder and the on power steering improves. Unscrew and you get on power push and more "slippy" acceleration. 1 major flaw however. My car likes the 5000wt diff oil on this track, any more than 10000wt and it oversteers on power pretty badly. When I loosened off the screws so the diff felt like about 5000wt the car got a bad "tweak". Under acceleration and braking the car stepped to the right very easily. It may be because I was running the diff in, I dunno. But my theory is that the collar is acting like a brake on the right rear wheel even when set very loosely, so it is like the right rear is binding. The funny part of this is that it was unnoticable when the diff was tightened up a fair bit. I personally would not use the active diff for anything under 10000wt simulated otherwise it is flakey. Over the 10K feel and it worked nicely.
STS pipe. I picked this badboy up for US $35 which includes the manifold + pipe + springs and gaskets, a full inline setup. That is like AUD$55!!!!!!!!! The price is hella good. And the performance also is very impressive. The bottom end is very very good, and the top end is good, but weaker than my Novarossi inline outlaw (6mm outlet). The STS outlet is only 5mm tho, so perhaps I should not be too surprised with this. Another major benefit is that it is hard coated with some subtance that basically repels oil and dirt!!!!!!!! After the run i merely wiped the pipe with a rag and it was perfectly clean, no staining whatsoever!!! The major thing I did not like with this pipe is that it sits out much wider than the novarossi pipe. The manifold goes a long way out and I need to angle the pipe back inwards to avoid the stinger being too exposed. What this did was jack the angle of the manifold on the motor and caused a leak around the gasket.

Finally it works.
Well it's been a long time coming, I finally got the EVO hooked up. The car feels really stable and with someone with better driving ability should make it really hammer around Brendale. So here is the setup, for any of you fellow drivers coming to Brendale for the Nat's I think this will give you a good base line setup to tweak.
Front
42 tyres
1 toe out
2 camber
front bar at 45
light blue ( aqua) fantom springs
70 wght shock oil
8 caster
no 11 servo saver
4mm ride height
0 droop on blocks
Rear
40 tryes
2 toe in
2 camber
gold bar in normal position
shock postion upper in lower lower
upper arm postion in lower outer upper
5 droop on blocks
light blue ( aqua ) springs
60 weight oil
4.5 mm ride height
50000 diff oil standard diff
Hope I haven't forgot anything. I hope this helps some of you. Finally on closing Kyosho are 1/8 world champions, and today at the club meet I mentioned that all those Mugen gear bags now have to be changed to EX-WORLD CHAMPIONS. They took it all in jest but I'm sure some of them were crying on the inside. ( joking).
