For the engine operating temps you want to be in the 210-280 temp range usually. 160 is definately too low to be making good power, but would be great in summer.
calimassive you really cannot go wrong with any Novarossi or RB based engines. I have used many of these and they all are great. Modified motors are awesome, but do require more tuning experience. There are supposedly some newer engines from Sirio and Rossi but I personally have not run them so cannot recommend them.
I must say based on my experiences to keep away from Collari or Picco.

Oh i see, thanks RJL... so basically its determined by the plug? Also, what are ussually the main differences between a stock factory engine and a modified engine? What exactly are the parts of the engine that are modified and how do these mods change the ease of tuning, reliability, legality, etc.? btw, in my earlier post, i meant serpent shaft, and turbo plug, i apologize again for my newbieness.

forgot to mention if you have 2 same engines and 1 has standard plug and the other has a turbo plug, performance will be the same.
back in the early 80s, they called these plugs 'turbo' (i guess cause it sounded good)
the major difference and advantage of the turbo plug is that it sits better inside the engine then a standard plug, hence the reason why people are making a fuss to ROAR and IFMAR that turbo plugs should be legalised.

Has anyone ever heard of Torsen diffs being used in on road cars?

Is there a JP modified RB X12 avaliable? I know there's a JP mod MT12...

Cali - I've never heard of a JP modified RB, I think he only does factory nova's anymore. Rody is reponsible for the RB modifieds.
At the nationals - word is Josh Cyrul had the juice running the Sirio. Pavidis, the champion had an RB tuned by Rody. Baker and Easton were rolling with their picco's too.
Now for Josh to run Sirio instead of JP OR Rossi pixie, I think that says something about the Sirio. I'd like to try that engine out especially for 149.99.
