crazy.....ya the 9351 is what Gary Guest uses exclusively on his Jammin's....and thats who i got mine from was Matty Matt of Jammin at the Canadian Winter Nats last year...He claimed it to be the "king" of all steering servo's.....well if u saw the Jammin Jay Vids...u prolly saw my quali's too...and had 2 9351's fail back to back.....Even with Gary and Jay takin a look over the set-up before the main.....1 thing does make me wonder.....on futaba's site they list this

COMMENTS: If Gear Set is needed, order FUTM3460.
If First Gear only is needed, order FUTM3500

is that first gear metal ? ...the original gear set has the plastic 1st gear i had in mine....but maby this "first gear only" is a metal gear maby...i dunno...

The first gear is black plastic. They're like $6-$7 for 5 pack of gears. The other gear set has the white plastic gear with 3 metal gears. I guess not every servo is bombproof, but they worked great for me so far.

chk the vids man if u dont belive the "light" hitts it took to take out that gear.....im not bashin the servo in any way..but something funky must have happened when them's 2 put that servo in my truck...cuz it didnt even last 5 min into the main...and they took the whole truck and radio back to there pitts and did it all....so i highly doubt it was user error....seeing as it was 2 of the BEST driver's in the US....but still...im using it as throttle duties now and love it...it loves HRS mode.

Did it strip the gear or not moving at all. Seems like towards the end you were loosing steering like no reaction from the servo at all before you quit.

ya it stripped the gear.....then I got Gary's Spare for the Main and the Exact same thing happened....and it wasnt the servo saver...it was actually a thread or 2 looser then Gary's.....in the main it took a Tiny bump to the wall and that was it...no steering again at the end of the straite.

Hitec 5955 is your friend for steering on truggy or buggy. Everyone around here got tired of blowing up Air/Futaba/Ko/Jr servos and most now run the Hitec on steering. Note that the 5955 gets a different, more reliable motor than the 5996, 5997, and 5998.

I've mixed servo's and radio gear(JR/Airtronics/KO) for years and never had a issue. Ran the same Futaba servo's in my Kyosho and Mugen. For years. Something is up.

depends on track conditions. rough bumpy low bite i usually stay at 106 in front and 128 rear. if track is smooth, high bite, fast ect... i will start to limit front and rear in 2mm increments till i find some happy medium between not traction rolling and jumping. the more the droop is limited the less the car will want to jump. no travel no air. hope this helps. matt perry

I noticed when installing the newer style arms on my MBX5 they binded a bit with the Tranny cases up front. I dremelled the cases some so they would move freely, is this normal?

good to know then. I am upconverting an MBX5, so I was curious if anyone with a straight mbx5r had any issues.

Default thanks

thanks for the droop info. I assume the measurements you gave were millimeters from the center of the top shock mount to the center of the bottom shock mount at full extension.

I set my new mbx5r up to the manual specs which calls from 10mm from the ground to the bottom of the hubs using an unmounted proline wheel. I found that 10mm simply means full droop and with the amount of travel in the R, I was just wandering how much people were limiting the travel. By the looks of any set up sheets ive seen it looks like they run it pretty much at full travel.

does anyone have a good, sound explaination of what the c0272/c0273 optional gear reduction in the rear end produces as far as differences in performance?
