Default help - cdc charger

i just got a cdc charger,

problem is it wont turn on, is there a certain button or should it turn on when i connect it to the dc power? ive tried simply connecting it to a car batt, and a converted power supply (reading at 11.7-11.9v average)

please help, i want to go to my first race meet tmoz and dont know what im doing wrong or even if its possible.

First, have you tried other power sources? Please be specific with what "cdc charger" you have... if you have the one I think you have, then, yes, as soon as there is power, it should turn on. There is no on button. Make sure you have not switched the polarity of the power. That could do some serious damage to some chargers.

like a regulated power supply that has been tested with other chargers?

Basically, test your charger with another battery, test your batter with another charger to find out what's wrong.

Multimeter shows 11.9v-12.3v average out of the power supply though.

sure you connect the right cables at the right battery or power supply terminals?

if you are facing the charger, the right-side set of cables goes to your battery pack, the other set with much bigger clamps goes to your power source.

as for correct terminal or polarity, red goes to +ve terminal and black the -ve on both your batt. pack as well as power supply.

try the charger on other power supplies as others have mentioned; the charger should power right up....else..you've got a faulty charger in need of repair

yea,

its all figured out, local race club helped me out,

as i have corraly plugs on the batts i was putting the (what seems to be) opposing side into the batts and the alligator clips on the power source,

reason is ive only ever owned a very low tech charger and the alligator clips went to the powersource.

so was a mistake on my behalf.

thanks for the help though. btw its an awesome charger.
