speed secrets?! any thoughts?
what are the top ten ways to gain speed and performance in a vehicle? i know brushless, but i want somethign other than motors, or a way to make an electric motor faster. other than good ball bearings, what are the best ways to make my buggy faster? its a tamiya dark impact. thanks in advance

Run the correct setup and keep it clean. If you bring the right gear then the only thing that can hold you back other then driving is a poorly maintained car and a bad setup.

Other than batteries, motor and gearing not too much. Custom body with aerodynamics will help. Or.......... you can buy V-Tec Stickers, they worth 5hp each. Becoming a RC manufacturer also auto increases 20mph to your top speed.

i keep it clean. and try to keep my motor as clean as possible. and my gears are always greased and my drivetrain is typically very smooth. i have it set up fairly well, but lack of good turnbuckles keep me from adjusting it very much. how much would a 7cell battery add? would it be noticable or not?

Race on tracks that go down hill only!
That's an ancient Chinese secret
If you want to go faster, you need the proper motor maintinance tools.
Lathe, hood alignment tool, brush serrator, Squirrel Fetus, Comm Drops, Bearing/or bushing oil.
Aside from motor stuff, make sure you take care of your batteries, properly charge and discharge them. Don't over heat them, that goes for everything rc related!
Or you could just buy a 10X2 modified motor and upgrade your speed control. But I've noticed that the fastest car doesn't always win on dirt, onroad may be more like that, but as long as you drive a tight consistent line and have a good setup, you will be faster!

i actually just recently got a 10x2 motor. its fast, but doesnt quite take the losi and bj4 and kyosho and all that on the straights. they usually have 10x2 mods in them too so im not sure if its my gearing or my cheapo batteries or what

it would be cheap batteries then probly if you can actualy tell a differance. Here is what I would run on a budget. An orion 10x2 v2 or a checkpoint 10x2, these need very few com cuts so you can afford to have your lhs rebuild your motor once every 20-30 runs. Then for batteries I would pick up a set of matched gp 3300s and a good battery management system, I would probly go with any charger that can charge at a current = to their capacity and a trinity discharger.

i have the whole battery set up good. except i need new batteries. mine arent really cheap, but the yare older and have been used a ton. what about deans plugs? do they really give a little extra boost? ive heard they do, but didnt think they really could...

Dean's plugs don't give a very noticeable speed increase as far as I can tell. But they are more efficient overall.
Having the right setup with the right tires will help you lower lap times on the track. Keeping bearings clean will also help a lot because if they're dirty, it can keep them from rolling smoothly.
