I'm running a 21t pinion with a 19 turn motor with no problems, even during 8+ minute practice sessions. It does help that the track is a balmy 40f.

its 5 min races the motors seem hot with 20 tooth but and 18 tooth the 16 on the motor i was running was much cooler. but i was tolt im way to low geared
it could be the motor is just powerfull at bottom end i guess and likes the lower tooth.

I run 16/86 with the purple top handouts, and usually a 18 on pk2's...
It depends alot on your track on how the motor will need to be geared to keep it in the right temp range.

16/86 and 5mins i come off at @120-130, i try not to get em much hotter cuzz budget racing sux
