the bj4 has great resell also custom works oval cars. the real king of resell is not a car but personal transponders new or used the price is almost the same.
some of the worst are 1\8 like kyosho you pay $600-700 today and try to sell it a week later and are lucky to get $300 older kanai 3 are down to about $150-200 now on ebay with full kingheadz pakages
also the rc10gt and xxx-nt do not have great resell values a nice gt/xxxnt with a decent motor and servos would go around $180 or so. to get the most out of it part it out.

That is really subjective to who you buy from. Off of ebay, ways to help yourself out are to ask questions that lead to info about the condition, and request detailed pics of the vehicle in question and bid accordingly. I will never bid on a vehicle that is dirty at all. If the person can't clean it up to sell it and make money, they probably don't take care of it in general.
Are there times this won't apply, true. But, usually you try to error on the side with better average of the results you desire.

1/10th nitro stadium trucks probably have the worst resale value of anything out there. I don't know of any class of RC that really holds its value well, due to the fact that these cars are beat into the ground every time they are run. If you bought something like a Losi 8ight right now in a year the resale would probably be about as good as you could get. I say the Losi since Losi has a reputation of keeping their cars around for a while and its a highly sought after car right now. In a year from now there will probably still be a really good market for them, so selling a used one wouldn't be hard.

it is kind of a revolving door. whatever is the latest craze will have the highest resale value. thats why people are paying 450 for a 3 race old losi 8ight when they can get a new one for 500. in their mind they are saving 50 bucks, and still have the latest and greatest. a year ago, the 777 sp2 was through the roof on resale. a year from now, it will probably be the rc8. just the flavor of the month so to speak. i am speaking of 1/8 buggies only, but it is true for any class in general.
