Questions: 3300 vs. 4200???
Hello all
I want to take my racing to the next level. Racing RC is like anything else, if you want to get better you must practice the correct fundamentals. However, there will come a time when equipment will come into play. I am in the market for new batteries for my TC and I see that 4200Mah cells seem to be the way to go. Besides runtime, what are the advantages over packs containing lower capacity levels (i.e., 3300, 3600, 3800)? Are any factory guys using anything less than 4200's?

Not only is runtime quite a bit more but the voltage is quite a bit higher(Highest we have ever seen in the R/C industry) and resistance is SUPER LOW.
Where on 3300's at 35 amp discharge 1.17's or 1.18's were really good you are seeing 1.22+'s on 4200WC's.
The lower the resistance the more PUNCH the battery will have.
On a good 3300 pack a 16-19 was considered good or a 2.0-2.4 was good.
On Ib4200's your seeing 1.2-1.5 or 11-13
So they are quite a bit better.
With the MORE runtime you get that HIGH voltage and LOW resistance for a longer time.
Plus the price of the GOOD packs is actually cheaper with IB's than what they were with GP's in MOST cases.
Be sure to buy a quality charger with adjustable peak detection.
A good discharge device that will do 20-30 amps and then a discharge tray that will cut off at .9 volts per cell.

Agreed 4200's offer great power and performance but taking care of them correctly is the best way to make any pack perform at it's highest level. ib's are much more sensatitive to correct maintnence than Gp's so having a nice quality discharger is very important
