I was thinking Irvine Spectrum parking lot as a possibility. They have held action sports and karting events there in the past.

Everybody stop right there! Hold on!
These ideas are too good to follow through on!
I'm sure there's a patch of asphalt in the middle of a field somewhere where no one will ever bother us!
Let's run the race there!
We don't want the hobby to grow or anything

Actually, there is a huge extra slab of quality asphalt at the largest mall in NC that is 1 mile from Lowe's Motor Speedway. The race could stay over memorial day weekend and have all the folks in town for the Coca Cola 600 in Charlotte right at our finger tips. Talk about MEGA exposure.

I agree with what Rick has been saying. He's been saying this for years at the Reedy sponsor meetings and I agree 100%.
I'm glad we were able to have the Tamiya Test Track for the past 13-14 years and having the Reedy Race there for the last 5 or 6 was a great honor. Our facility was built as a test track and we can fit allot of spectators there, but the one thing we don't have is natural walk through traffic. As nice of a upscale town the Tamiya track sits in it does not have the walkthrough traffic I personally think RC racing needs for continued growth. It is time to move big international races in front of more people.
HPI tried the Irvine Spectrum once. The only problem was the space they were given was too far away from the masses. However, I think with what they did it can be expanded upon with the right planning and support from all the manufactures. If they want.....
Now that I won't have a permanent test track to use for all the races we hold including TCS I'm going to use our new resources to develop a mobil track that can host big events. (And no I'm not talking about those cheesy parking lot set ups) If I plan this right it should be able to be put anywhere including a mall and it should have a great presentation. Something to think about for next year and something to keep me busy.
I like putting on big races together so not having a permanant track is just a bump in the road.....
