Default EVO III

The best is the EVO 3 in my opinion. It's only weakness is that fragile one way gear.

You want to buy one of these? Check out the local import, it's very important.

ppl keep saying the front one-way gear is fragile...
but i just had a bad run this morning, bending a screw , suspension mounting block and a suspension shaft.
nope, the gear didnt strip or anything.i just wished it did!!
this incident is precedent to a 3-4 turn air-flip i had,and countless other accidents.(i suck)
nope , the gear didnt strip.
so i dont understand why so many ppl keep saying that.
other than that , yes it's a great car.
for budget , get the TA-04R,hop it up a little.
the 414M2 is darned hard to find now.
the Xray is the most expensive of them all but worth every penny.
regarding parts support...it's scary and frustrating not to have it but...i am ordering most my spares on the net.

The one way is a 6mm....it is almost the same as you find on 1/10 GP cars, so it is most definately not fragile. What is fragile is the bevel gears coming off the one-way, but that is simply the soft material that Tamiya uses!

I have a Xray Evo 2 it is an extremely nice car both in quality and how it runs (this is my 3rd Xray!). With the C hub suspension, if you have problems with the car then it is down to your fingers...not the car!!

I also have a TA04R. Ran it for the first time this weekend. Value for money this car is better than the Xray......but performance wise (although extremely good!) the Xray will be better! The quality of Tamiya has gone a very loooong way since the wobbly days of the TA02/03....... I just wish that they make their ball ends out of better material....but unless you run TCS this will not be much of a problem.
