Deadshorting Battery Packs...
Ok I have heard a lot about deadshorting stuff but I've never heard till today that deadshorting battery packs are actually good for them...
How can this be??? I've always thought deadshorting batteries are bad for them...
What kind of benefit and how long can a battery be deadshorted???

Personally speaking I would never bother as the risks (killing the pack) outweight the supposed gains (better performance for more of the packs life).
Intellect cells should definitely never be deadshorted. Some people deadshort GP's and old NiCd's.

I've just bought a few GP3300 packs and I'm worried if they were deadshorted before....
If I were to deadshort my cells now as I'm not racing anytime soon, would it harm my batteries???
How long is the maximum period of time I'm suppose to deadshort my cells???

NiCads I always Deadshort.
NiMH I Never Deadshort.
With GP3300s just put a full charge in them and forget about them for long periods of time. When you want to use them again just cycle them a few times and they will come back pretty close to where they were.
or
Just cycle them 1 time every 3 to 4 weeks.
Those are really your only options.

Battery gu ru's can tell you better. But I've dead shorted GP's and the old pack's seem to come back to life. Of coarse we probably couldn't stand to read the facts about it in the technical term's, but shorting is risky, you have to be sure of what your doing.
A hearty battery can take it. The 3700 GP's where the last I tried. the 38's and 42's tend to want to vent and poof that battery is shot. I'd say lower charge rate's and discharging to .90 per cell. And your pack's will last longer. Dead shorting short en's the life of the pack. But hey, Go fast and try not to crash. Later.
OH: And I used to deadshort mine for a week from race day to race day.

You should never dead short NI-MH cells. Dead shorting nicads was good for them, but dead shorting NI-MH cells is bad for them. NI-MH cells will come back to life most of the time after dead shorting them, but with a los of peformansce. most of the ones that I have seen that where let get to low lost about a therd of there run time and the av voltage went down alot also. You should never let them get below .9 volts per cell and You should always store them with some charge in them.
