Default 1/12 servo?

What is a good servo for a 1/12 scale car. I like ko-propo things but have no clue what one to get. There are so many different ones. Any opinions welcome thx

"Futaba 9602 or 9650, JR 3550 or 3650, KO 949, Airtronics 94145
Any of these will work well." -OD

I personally run a 9602. Its a little big, but the fact that it is two seasons old and still not sloppy at all keeps it in my car. I have a 3550 that will eventually make it into one of my cars.

I personally think the z3550 is the best 12th scale servo. I didn't fare well with the 3650.

Yeah, the jr 3550 is a great servo for 1/12. I have used them before and am currently looking to find another.

I have heard that before that people seem to like the 3550 vs. the 3650
Why is that?
Seems odd because the 3650 is digital while the 3550 is analog(which would not work with my HRS)

right now I run Kondo 949

I just started running 1/12 and run a 9650 and I love it, no issues at all. As far as people liking the 3550 over the 3650 I can't be sure. I do run a JR 4800s in my drake 2 and have noticed that it's action is a bit smoother than the 8800s or 9000s. The digitals just seemed a bit "notchier." Not an issue in gas offroad but in 1/12 it might be very noticeable.

Marvi, I think you may be talking about the Hitec 225 with metal gears and ball bearings. It s a great servo for the price. I use one in my 12th scale and haven't had a problem in 2 years with it.

NOOOOO....never use Hitec servos. That one in particular has centering issues.

I think Hitec uses some sort of active centering hardware. While other quality servos are constrained to finding the same center point every single time, Hitec gives you MANY different center points. A new one EVERY time the servo moves.

This usually results you removing the servo from your car (while cursing the stupid shop owner who sold it to you) and inserting the servo into the nearest trash bin. Shortly to be followed by purchasing what you should have bought in the first place.

Hitec sucks
