Has anybody done a body mount on the rear pod for the 235mm cars, like 1/8 GP on-road? This will transfer the downforce to the tires instead of the suspension. Or will it affect the rear pod movement too much?
Check out http://www.rcdevil.de/
The other problem is that it creates a new link between the suspension and the pod - one that is not predictable or stable.
It has been tried.
Hi guys,
almost all parts are designed, milled and put together. The only change left will be a new rear topplate so I have more room to solder the motorwires.
Enjoy the pictures, more on demand...
Edit: I'm looking for a kydex plate, anybody have a european address where I can buy plates smaller than 1x2.5m?? I only need 30x30cm

funny that is almost exactly the same design i worked out a couple years ago.. minus the front suspension which is not legal here in wgt..
Dont tell me you stepped away from your design then, this drives awesome!
And about the front suspension, the sliding kingpin is a dumb rule because a non damped front end makes for an undriveable car on a bad track.
But you can define me "sliding kingpin" my kingpin can actually slide, hence the spring on it, I just dont use it....
But the car is 235 class anyway, it would be a shame to drive this with less than 7.4V.

i was kicking it around in cad for some time about 2 years ago until the world gt class launched.. i agree the front end is an improvement on lesser tracks, but with the 1 cell 13.5 combo we run you can't throw enough power at the cars to matter what you have in it.. i was aiming for a cantileaver suspension that didnt require a panhard bar.. one side only allowed the pod to pivot vertically. the other allowed lateral motion to avoid binding the links.. it was fun till my lack of 3d design showed. (i was learning cad on the fly..
I have just built my 10R5, converting to 235mm version, 2S lipo.
What is the recommended track width for the front & rear?
Any basic setup recommended for a low traction asphalt track?
Thanks!

Question for you
Who make that conversion?

It is a 10R5 with CRC conversion kit.
For the front, i cut out both the CRC extension plate (comes with CRC conversion kit) and the 10R5 arm mounting plate, secured both together with screw and mount onto the chassis without any modification to the chassis. It gives a 210mm width.
Alternatively, i also tried using just the CRC extension plate, but need to drill addition hole on the chassis to mount. It gives a front width of 225mm but cannot fit the P905 shell.
I am thinking of using brushless 5.5T with 48 pitch spur and jaco tires. The tires are 62mm dia. I need a rollout of around 33-37. How are you guys gearing it?

I have an excel chart I made up that goes on my laptop trackside.
Have sent copies to a few of the club racers.
Top row - you put in tyre size/spur size/pinion size and it gives you your mmr in top left corner, now if you put in minimum tyre/pinion sizes it will give you the full A4 chart.
Not sure how to post it here (beyond my intelligence)
Not sure how your clearance would be, but if you use a 78t (48dp) spur then :::
78 - 58mm - 59mm - 60mm - 61mm - 62mm
12 - 28.03 - 28.52 - 29.00 - 29.48 - 29.97
13 - 30.37 - 30.89 - 31.42 - 31.94 - 32.46
14 - 32.70 - 33.27 - 33.83 - 34.40 - 34.96
15 - 35.04 - 35.64 - 36.25 - 36.85 - 37.46
16 - 37.38 - 38.02 - 38.67 - 39.31 - 39.95

Re...rollout
The last time I ran last summer, on sugar water prepped asphalt, 140' X 90' track, 10L2, GTB 15/87, 48 pitch gearing, Novak 5.5, Inline front axles, 4 Cell Promatch 4600's, started with 62mm R/C 4 Less pink front and rear tires. Niftech traction copound, full rear, 1/4 front.Led 29 of 31 laps in the A main, Then I broke it!!!!! Car was "DIALED" then driver suffered major brain fart!!!!
