Another carpet track I went to worked great with same compounds (softs) and another track was so bad you could only get one good run out of rubber tires before you had to put on a new set otherwise the car was crap. It's all relative, but you're right- foams would be better

Did you use to run sedan at that old slot track in el cajon? The trick there was to use mixed tires- sorex 28 in front and sorex 20 in back. This prevented traction rolling in the corners and gave extra stability on and off power. It wasn't the best conditions for sedan
