good upgradeable tc?
looking to spend 100-150. its just local racing and starting wont be run lots. thats one reason for low starting amount, i dont wanna pay 450 for a car i may race ony 5 or 6 days. whats the best option? i was thinking cyclone s that way if later i do run moore i can upgrade, does tamiya have a "starter" model that can upgrade like their better cars?

Tamiyas best cheap car is the TA05.

You Tamiya guys have to realize that very few Hobby shops stock Tamiya TC parts....

The TB-02r is a good kit too, and eventually, you can get graphite chassis for most of the Tamiya Cars. But the Cyclone is a good car, and the T2R is a T2 with fiberglass instead of graphite. Any way you go would be good, but yes, check out your local hobby shop and see what they carry parts for, most likely the T2R will be your best bet.

Tamiya parts are well supported at most online shops too.
). The TAO5 doesn't. If you are looking to upgrade the TAO5 shocks and universals are probably your first items to buy...

No Brainer, Tamiya TA05 - easy to get parts online and overseas in two days. I have raced Tamiya cars for three years, and never have I been short a part - and not one local hobby store stocks Tamiya Parts. Everyone says run the car that has local part support - with the internet you can get the part you need in one two days and 30% less then the local hobby shop.

the cyclone 's' is probably the fastest cheap car.it has everything you need and you dont really have to upgrade anything. BUT they are proving to be pretty fragile. so they cant take much of a hit.

Tamiya TA05 if you like belt cars. A great starter kit that can can easily be upgraded as your needs require. Very competitive in stock and 19T class against much more expensive double deck carbon chassis cars. They are also very strong and durable. Suspension parts are also compatiable with other models. The TA05 / 415 / EVO IV or V / TB02 all use the same suspension parts (note there is a "regular" and a "lightweight" suspension) so they will still be available for a few years.
There are plenty of places to get parts and kits via internet if your local LHS does not stock. I am all for supporting the local LHS, but why let them decide what you should get ? Try www.speedtechrc.com and check out there site. They sell the TA05 for $ 125.00 - 130.00 depending on kit (different bodies). They also have easy links to see all the hop-up parts available for the car. Basic suggestion would be get the aluminum shocks with threaded spring perch (easy to set ride height) and universals to start as noted earlier in this post.
As for upgrading to thier top of the line car, just look at the new 30th anniversary edition TA05 Porsche 934 RSR. Full double deck carbon chassis and shock towers, aluminum bulkheads, etc. But if you want to go that route, you would be better to buy a new kit for $ 450.00 + rather than spend that or more on all the hop-ups to upgrade a base kit.
