Well, it's been working fine for months and then I tried to put 1.09 on and now it doesn't. It's like flashing a BIOS on a motherboard. If something fails during the write of the new BIOS, you are toast and have no option but to send it back to the manufacturer.

Apparently the Firmware on these ESCs is the same way and from what I've been reading, it's at least 1/3 of people who are reporting failures in the update so something is obviously wrong.

I just wish I could get someone from Castle to answer the phone or return my email and voicemail. If I can't talk to anyone tomorrow, rather than buying a 2nd MM setup as a backup (I was intending to have a 4600 for stock truck anyway), I'll just buy a pair of Novaks and call it a day. I can put the MM up for sale after it gets fixed. Bottom line is I have to have a brushless working by the 17th for the first run of the ECNS, so if I can't get an RMA from them then I go to another manufacturer.

I've got a question on the MM ESC and brushed motors. Does the motor timing have any affect on a brushed motor?

No it does not, only on brushless motors.

Just got back from racing my toruing car and the Mamba Max speedo worked perfectly in the brushed mode. Car had lots of punch with smooth throttle control. Speedo really works great.

I've got a quick Q about the sensored motor update when or if it happens.

Will it be a hardware or a firmware update?

I dont really want to buy MM setup only to find I have to return the ESC to CC to get a hardware update.

Cheers

My local club just approved BL for the 19T class but only the Novak 4300. Can the MM run this or other sensored motors?

Supposedly there is a firmware update in the works that will allow the Mamba to run sensored motors. For right now, it may or may not run certain sensored motors, but it won't run them very well.

It will be a firmware update that you can do it yourself through the Castle Link software.

Hi guys, i'm planning to get the mamba max. Which motor should i go for? I won't be running lipo for now..will be using 4200/4300 nimh. Should i go for the 6900 or the 7700? I've seen the 7700 and it's insanely fast and uncontrollable...LOL..Anyone using the 6900 with nimh? How fast is it? How's the 5700 with nimh? Thanks guys....

I personally like the 5700 best. It's a good middle range motor. I would say unless you are just looking to use it for bashing or are a really good mod racer, then the 7700 probably isn't the best choice. I've run a 7700, and It's just crazy fast to the point where it can easily kill your drivetrain. Can't comment on the 6900 since I haven't run that one yet. All of my experience is with NiMH.
