How well does it work? I tried the sidewinder with a novak and it didnt go well at all. Was a while back with old firmware. What kv or turn is the motor you are using. I want to use a 17.5 but am skeptical about the low end cogging.

The motor never runs. It always cogs throughout the entire throttle range. It never gains any speed.

I have reprogrammed in many times, trying differant Start Power and Punch Control.

Nothing seems to stop the cogging. The cogging is so bad that the car will not even move.

Do you have suggestions on how I can eliminate the cogging, or get the motor to power up and run at full RPM?

thanks,

With higher turn motors like a 13.5 or 17.5, it is going to cog off the line. Once the car is rolling, it will work fine. There's not really much you can do about it, except wait for the MMP

I'm going to be using a Castle BEC with my Mamba Max.
Should the esc switch be on or off ????
I have the red wire out of the plug.
Thanks

You will still need to turn the switch on.

You do not put a switch on the BEC line.

You keep the red wire from the ESC disconnected at all times when using an external regulator.

The switch you need to turn on is the ESC power switch, and that is all.

I just stumbled across this thread and would like to thank Castle for their excellent support. I had a problem with my son's ESC/Motor combo and their suggestions were right on the money. How many companies support their hardware with free firmware and software a year after you buy it ? Thanks again, specifically to Joe.

Has anyone tried a 2.5 turn 13,800kv (Speed passion) motor on a Mamba Max in a 4WD buggy?
They say no motor limit, but this might be a bit too much?

If your talking about running that motor on 2S then the motor will probably die before you find out. 100,000+ rpm is far more than the bearings in the motor can handle.

The 2.5T motor was meant to run on 4 cell nimh or 1S lipo, considerably lower voltage and the Mamba will handle it fine as long as you have a separate rx pack.

BTW, good to see this thread back alive after nearly a month of nothingness.

Where is the MMP???
