Hey,

I have a choice between getting one of the first version of the TRF415, ie not an msx. Or a Schumacher mi2 and I was wondering what you're opinions would be on which is best for racing stock/19turn with rubbers?

Get the Mi2. Everybody and their mom has a 415. Just kidding. Both great cars. Get what your lhs can gert parts for.

lol, well, my heatsink is purple, so it only makes sense really to go for the mi2.

to be honest, the mi2 seems like the more sensible option, but I've always seen 415's as having an air of prestige about them, mainly because they're so damn expensive..

there is no contest between these two cars the 415 is by far the better car and when you decide you wana up grade you can without bying a new car and also the shumacher is so far behind the rest its un true.

I've only been in the sport for about 6 years but i have seen mates with various chassies and to be honest the Tamiyas come out on top through their duability in driving and being able to take the heavey impacts . parts are cheaper and you are not short on info for setups for various tracks.
And remembering tha with Tamiya the suspention parts are inter changable between most of the chassies (TAO4, 414, Evos up to the 415msx MRE)
but at the end of the day it is you that has to drive, so it would be wize to test drive both if you could.

Well I have owned both. I first had the Mi2 which is a great car, easy to work on and generally a good starting out chassis. The TRF415 was purchased after I sold the Mi2 and they are like chalk and cheese in my opinion. Set options on the TRF leave the Mi2 for dead, the drive train on the TRF is a lot better IMO. The stock shocks that come with the Mi2 are garbage and most Mi2 drivers (pre the Mi2EC being released) will tell you they changed shocks and ran TRF shocks with the Mi2 carpet shock towers. The Mi2 needs quite a few hop ups to bring it even close to the TRF. The Mi2 EC is a different story and so is the price

Looks like I'll be looking a lot more closely at the 415 then. Shame about the price tag, hopefully ebay will fix me up at some point

Go the 415, You will be making a good choice. One of my friend's just bought the first 415 I owned off me, and has been very very happy with it. He owned Xray's before that and now I think he is thinking about having TAMIYA Tattooed on his BUTT.
