i ask because we have been in talks with the county as they are preparing to turn our old landfil into a major new park. it is looking promissing that we may get a new permanent track, but for some reason they want to pave with that stuff, and not asphalt... i can't imagine it is cheaper though...

it will be interesting to see the result and it certainly won't be anytime soon (they gave us a 2 year timetable) hopefully when they compare the prices, we can get asphalt just so we can have consistency with other tracks. i keep saying we, and this is actually for the clab i used to be a part of before i moved, but i still visit and get to run..

I believe this is also the same that is used on a lot of high end tennis courts. I have used that surface to practice on. When clean traction is great. Only downfall is cleaning the surface of algea with a presure washer, maybe once a year! I used to do that quite a bit to get ready for big events, but now I race at a permanent track where its indoor asphalt.

i believe the stuff they are refering to looks a lot like aspalt, but is ground up bits of old tires instead of rock... it is quite spongy to walk on which is why the use it for running tracks... i wish it were like your track at MDI Tim. i have friends that run the state series down there and love it...
