When removing the pin from the female part of the CVD which mates against the diff outdrives on a TC3(and others) do you heat up the the CVD so the pin will come out easy?

I have tried knocking it out cold and I am worried it will damage the cvd. Also would this work on the steel MIP cvd's or are the pin and the female part the same material?

The reason I am doing this is so I can fit some IRS pin cusions in soon when they arrive.

Try soaking the cvd assemby in WD-40 first then give a little tap on the cvd pin to get it out. Make sure you have the set screw out of the coupler.

i just put an old pinion gear on the workbench then set the cvd on the pinion over the hole and pounded it out with an old small screwdriver, then inserted the irs ones.

you could always try the big dawg bones by IRS. They already have the pin cushions in them and are beefier than the stock alum cvds.

I tried a method where I pushed the pin the most it could go so that one side was flush and then I used a tool that inserts pins into a watch band. I got the tool on Ebay, do a search for "watch link remover" and be sure to get one that has a hole in the middle this way you can stick the CVD right in the hole for alignment.
