4WD, 4W indepent suspension and foam tires always has been and always will be overkill on smooth carpet tracks. Pan cars are dialed on carpet, and much more economical for the majority of us who are not sponsored.
A 4-cell 190mm 10th scale pan class is long overdue at Cleveland, Snowbirds and the IIC!!! Loose the rubber tire classes at carpet races and create a pan-sedan class. And of course, long live 12th scale.

1/12 scale has picked up in New Zealand too, quite rapidly! Last race meet saw a full 12th heat. A year ago, you wouldnt be seeing more than 4 in a race. Im thinking of making the effort and racing 12th too

1/3rd the number parts, about half the weight, almost twice the track time, 2 less cells and the same or better lap times? Oh yeah, it's WAAAAAAY better. Factor in the lower wrenching time, and it becomes even more obvious that 12th scale is superior for indoor racing.
Sedan racing has become much like Oval racing was 10 or so years ago. You need TONS of motor and battery, and there seems to be a new chassis every two or three months from each manufacturer.
12th scale is undoubtedly the F-1 of electric RC, always has been, always will be.

12th scale rules, at my local club we had the same amount of 12th as 27t stock the other week!!! long live 12th.....

in the many years of racing that iv been doing,of all the classes 1/10 4wd 7cell 1/10 ovel stock 6cell 1/10 2wd 6cell 1/10 stock,19t tc 1/10 gas tc 1/12 mod stock 6cell 1/12 mod stock 19t 4cell and mini 1/12 19t is the best tho mini is 2nd then 1/10 gas tc

Yea, we're basically using the BRL rules for our 4300 class. I'm running my 4300 with the ribbed endbell (lighter) and sintered rotor. It still seems like the stock rotor is the fastest.
We've got about 15-20 guys total that are doing or in the process of getting ready for the 4300 class. The turnout this time of year is down a little bit since it's still warm out. We don't have huge turnouts at our club though, usually 25-35 racers depending on the night. We've also got kind of a divide between the Tuesday and Saturday crowd, so it's rare we ever have all the BL guys together for one race. We're moving to Sundays (instead of Saturday) which should help, and we're having a "big" race in December which should bring all the 4300 locals together for one weekend. We had 9 guys in the 4300 class tonight and it was a great time.
12th scale isn't dying, don't get me wrong. It's a great class, and one I might run in the future. We've just robbed a few of the 12th scale guys that were in it for the reduced maintenance to the 4300 class since while the cars are more complicated, the allure of BL and LiPo is hard to pass up. It all goes in cycles, though. A few months ago, 12th scale was the place to be, and probably will be again.

1/12th seems to be on the rise here in Australia too We had 17 1/12th's running at a club meet last weekend ( SORMCC in Sydney ), the biggest class of the day, and that was with another half dozen guys not turning up due to the possibility of rain. I think Stock Touring had 7 or 8. After years of basically not existing here in Oz a few of us starting racing them and talking 1/12th up about 6 months ago and now in the last 2 months momentum seems to have taken off and now have 2 clubs in Sydney running them with racing availible every weekend and some tuesday nights, usually 6 or more entries. A few clever local RC business's are waking upto this and bringing some good 1/12th gear in for sale locally too. ( Thanks Greg from Feral Batteries 
) Our Nationals this year will feature 1/12th for the first time in a while too. Every week it seems a few 1/10th guys are trying 1/12th for the first time.
There has been a few issues locally within Touring Mod about ESC and Motor reliabilty and the current crop of cells being so high in voltage. Maybe a few of the 1/10th Mod guys are seeing 1/12th as being easier on gear and easier on their wallets too? Personally I think they are the coolest class from a drivers point of view, can't beat rear wheel drive and bucket loads of power for fun factor
