She made me do it!
I just picked up a Losi 8ight kit
Gonna start the build tonight, then I have to pick out a motor and pipe. I race on a pretty tight track, so I'm looking for something with a ton of bottom end, and a very tall heat sink. Suggestions?
Oh and it was my wife that insisted I go ahead and get one, since they may be hard to come by around X-mas time...I have a cool wife... The shop I got it from said they had the 1st 4 kits in Florida. Not really concerned with exclusivity, just pleased I was able to get one...

Good ol Vspec is tops when it comes to bottom end....
Just get a good pipe...the OS2050 is a great combo with the V spec...
I have one in the for sale forums here.
I also have a great RB Concepts WS7 II x3 that I loved that is also for sale...
The RB will last longer than the V spec (hence the reason why I have one)
Take a look at my threads...Lots of stuff...Three different pipes...
-Shookie <><
Oh the reason why I am selling is because I am sick with Cancer for at least 6 months so I don't feel right leaving stuff sit around...

Ah man, sorry to hear that Shook, hope you can get through that without too much strife...
I narrowed it down to two motors, an RB and a Novarossi:

And:

I've seen both in action, and they seem to be pretty comparible. I'm planning on a JP-2 pipe.
So far, I only built the basic steering assembly. I was happy with everything but the ackerman rack. It rides on mushroom shaped bushings in stead of bearings. I might just measure those things, and see if I can't find a suitable bearing to replace them. To minimize play, you nearly have to bind them up too tight. Other than that, everything in the box is top notch.
I'm very pleased with my purchase so far. It came with two sets of springs and an assortment of sway bars. The shock bodies are HUGE! It looks like it's gonna be one helluva buggy. All that sux is I basically have to wait two weeks to finish it. I'm selling my Mayhem to a good friend to do two things; get him into 8th scale, and fund the new motor! He can't afford it till next paycheck. Then I'll have to order and wait untill the new mill gets here, then break it in...ah man, and my Mayhem is actually only 6 months old... I just did this dance! I just can't get mad at that...
