Got home around 1. Ugh.

Aaron,

Just wanted to say thanks for all the help all over this site.
I wanted to ask when you say "drilled" piston, How would I do it? And what do I use? Thanks

Anybody can give some input about "drilled" pistons if you know how, thanks.

the "54" refers to a #54 drill bit, you can get these at a machine shop supply and better hardware stores. then you can drill the holes to remove the taper that is molded into them to make them easier to get out of the mold. a drilled 54 vs. a molded 54 can be hard to tell apart so you might want to do the drilled version on a 56 piston, then you can look at it and tell its not a molded 56. hope that helps.

Buy the drill bit size at a hardware store (#54 bit for 54 holes, etc...). Then take a smaller holed piston and drill it with the bit (ex: to get drilled 54s, take a 55 and drill out the holes with a 54 bit).

DO you guys really think the draft angle of the mold is that big of deal on the pistons? Can you physically tell a difference in your hand if you compare a drilled 54 to a stock 54? Or better yet has anyone used the losi shock tool to compare them?

i can tell the difference in an electric car, so i would imagine you can tell the difference for a 1/8... its kinda like "in between" a 54 and a 55 etc..

Has anyone here tried the brake pads Avid sells? I was thinking about getting some..they "claim" they are less affected by fuel and grease but i find it kinda hard to believe..

The Avid brakes David sells are awesome. I ran them for 2 years on my Xray. A friend of mine has them on his 8B and has had nothing but good from them. You won't be disappointed.

buy the brake pads that ultimate makes. they are the same phenolic material of the avid but have a cooler cut out patern. i do notice they last longer than the losi stuff. when i pull out my center diff i just scuff the pads with fine grit paper and they become new again. i love them. they fit much better on the out drives also.

trebor - Of course!

Like everyone else added in, a "drilled" bit involves taking a smaller-size piston and drilling out the holes with a drill bit of the correct size. It sounds a bit trivial, but it's a nice in-between adjustment and drilling the holes out with a bit results in a more consistent piston size.

It may not necessarily be something that you could run back to back and notice which is which, but it will change the balance of the car (namely, add a little bit of 'pack' to the shocks).

Friery - What up?

Thanks Guys. How come they dont drill them already? forget it, I know. If we start having them drill them then that will be another part we have to wait for.lol.

i have been using the x5 box for a while now and have used about 2 wheels. i ordered this one from horizon and it fits perfect.

http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products...odID=TRI111062

team magic is owned by trinity so sometimes you have to look up trinity parts to get your team magic parts. unfortunately this wheel is out of stock until early july. you will have to wait a week i guess. or use the part number to find it somewhere else.

someone else stated raceday might have it their ebay site states they have 5in stock.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Team-Magic-Alpha...QQcmdZViewItem

hope that helps ya.
