Default Chassis Flex

Well, I have seen first hand how much the 8ight chassis flexes! Went to a bmx track today (with huge quad jumps!). I cased a couple of them, but otherwise was running it pretty good until I heard a chattering sound...I tore out 3 teeth on the CB - ripped em clean off and cracked the bell down the side...the spur is fine, but this is a first for me. I guess 45 foot quads, landing from about 15 feet of air on a hard as cement track will do that! Not sure if I will go back there, but if I do, my shock oil is going up in weight for sure!

Wow, on a cement track!!! Make sure your chassis is not bent.

Most are measuring from center to center on the screws that mount the shocks. Center of top screw to center of bottom screw. It's still iffy to me.

The caliper will be a little difficult to use to measure ride height. At the rear and center of the chassis is a good measuring point if the chassis is not too worn down. If so, move forward to the point in front of the rear arm. The mud guard needs to come off though. Up front I have the mud guard off and measure behind the front arm. These places seem to be the straightest points.

A guy I race with actually uses an old motor mount and a flat head screw in one of the holes. When using your calipers, measure the height from the top of the screw to the bottom of the motor mount. Then set it under the chassis and make adjustments to get the chassis to just touch the top of the screw. After seeing this, it is easy to measure the ride height.

To setup ride height, buy a ride height gauge like this:

Nope. Only when the clutch bearings go out. Has happened twice. Only needed to replace the tank once. Are your's still ok?

I hope to be there around that time also. I'll need all the practice I can get. Any idea how many racers are going to show up? I had to fix my buddy's car this week. He actually live in OKC. So I'm taking his car down on my trailer. I'm trying to get him to go watch the action.

Yeah, they are now. I switched to a standard 3 shoe clutch and everything's fine.

How many people do you think are using the three shoe set-up? I have the stuff for a 3 shoe setup but I'm waiting until I have problems with the stock setup before I switch. I'm using the KH mount so I should be able to switch easily. I have mocked everything up but never ran the buggy with it. Does it still accelerate like normal?
