Basically I am doing the same thing. Kind of sucks to watch the lights on the zero thirty, sometimes I forget. so I preorder the trinity DPD. Will DPD do the same thing as a zero thirty plus a smart tray?

BEWARE .... I have had a major problem with my DPD (see above) . I have sent two emails to Trinity so far with no reply at all. Great customer service

@wallstreet: selectable cutoff voltages are 0.00V, 0.20-1.00V in 0.05 increments

@straightaway: yes, the DPD will do the job you are asking for. For the IB4200s I'd choose 0.90V to 1.00V cutoff. No more forgotten packs in the tray, the DPD switches off automatically after levelling all cells in a pack.

If you are in the USA, just call them or send them back the whole unit with your receipt. I don't email for my warrnty issue. I call or send the item back with proof of purchase. You will get solution quicker than emailing back and forth.

I'm discharging a pack of 3800'2 on a DPD and it's taking 2 hours and 20 minutes so far... There are two cells still going!!

I think this pack might be cactus...

In the team wave, i discharge 4200 in 50-55 minutes, in program 1. Is 5A lineal "real" discharge, this is the difference.

Thanks for the answers guys. Its just what I expected.

Lately, I have shopped around for the DPD and most local shops I have talked to don't even know about this product. In fact when they do an inquiry with their distributor about it, the response they get is a delivery of mid to late Oct.

Is there a shortage?

Is there a lag between 1st and 2nd batches such that there may have been improvements to the 2nd batch that may have caused production delays?

What some people won't do to sell there product.

There is nothing wrong with the DPD.

It works great on EACH cell.

My batteries have only increases in performance since I started to use the DPD. I did notice the the IR was also down.

I think its funny how the DPD is back ordered everywhere and some people
saying it don't work like the Much more unit! RIGHT! LOL

Cannon-Pick up the phone and call them.You NEVER use Email for warranty unless it's a tiny company and even THEN email is not very good.
Call them and ask for repairs.Get a RMA if needed and send it in.That simple.
Dont blame a company because your lack of knowledge of handling a warranty.
You simply got a bad unit.Sad to hear but after selling about 40 of these units I havent seen one come back.It happens man.Sorry this time it was you.

I think DPD is not the best. Because the change over from 30amp pulse to 5amp linear discharge is depend on the first cell.

What happen if the second cell already achieve 0.5v, while the first cell is still 1.0v...i'm sure the 2nd cell will be over discharge.

And what happen if the 5amp linear discharge is set to 0.8v cut-off during that time?...does this 2nd cell still continue with linear discharge even though it already achieve 0.5v?

Trinity should create a single pulse discharge for each cell. Right now they try to combine between:

1. Pack discharger mode (30amp pulse discharge).
2. Cells Equalizer mode (5amp discharge).

Pack discharger mode cut-off depending on the first cell is not a good idea.

It should depend on the whole pack cut-off voltage to prevent over discharge on other cell (0.9v x 6 cell = 5.4v cut-off).

Solution:
1. First, use the external wire to discharge the whole pack until 5.4v.
2. Then use 5amp linear mode to equalize your battery.

Pro on DPD:
1. Good information displayed.
2. Doesn't need an external power supply.

Con on DPD:
1. 30amp pulse mode cut-off depend on the first cell.
2. Cannot hold the cut-off voltage.
3. Take long time to finish a full charged battery.

it is actually only around 1amp when it goes into equlization mode.

so long as your cells are relatively closely matched, i.e within say 200mah, then the equilisation at 1amp should only take 10minutes...

where people take over 2 hours just to equlize is when one cell is say 1000mah below the other 5 cells, then it will take a long time, and one should realise they should change out that cell.

dont blame the DPD for doing its job, look at your own batteries.

I have tried Teamwave discharge is good and discharge each cell 20 amp pulse... about trinity, they bad they dont warranty their product..
