Default Please help on picking the right car and internals

Hi there, first off thanks for looking/helping me.
Im not a complete newbie to Rc'ing i have Hpi rs4 sport with most of the hopups. then hpi sprint also. But there electric, ive been debating trying some nitros.
From what i see they hit 60mph for much less money.
Ive been thinking about getting this Chassis
http://www2.omnimodels.com/cgi-bin/w...I=ASCC2033&P=O

If you know a better place that has it cheaper for the factory team kit that would be helpfull also.

Now as far as internals go, im rather lost. SO many brands to choose from.
What i know i want on brands is Futaba Remote, as far as engine goes i have NO IDEA what to pick. Id like to pick a engine in the 200$ range. i rather do it right then buy somthing crappy. So i have about a 650$ budget for the car.

Hope you guys can give me some advice for a beginner, also how do you break in the engine? and why/how do you use this after run oil ive heard about. What is better for the engine, 10% nitro or 20%? What .XX engine is overall best?

I know alot of questions :P
Thanks for any help!
Mike

A Nitro TC3, was a good car, but some time ago, now is very scarce to see on the racetracks. People is still burned with it, years after the nightmare were to race them.

Forget about getting 60Mph with that car, needs a really powerful engine and a superb setup, 45/50Mph will be more real.

650US$ is a very tight budget, you need a car, an engine, two suitable servos, a battery pack and if you don't have one a starter box - you can avoid the buy of a starter box with a pullstarter version, but... forget the 2speed tranny and settle with a less performing engine (prepare about 900 - 1000US$ for everything if you want a race engine). More if you want a non-nonsense engine.

If the factory didn't addressed some problems, you'll need to dig on the NTC3 thread and see what people did to solve the problems with that car (more were teething problems, but... really I don't know if 4 years after, the factoty found a way to steer their flaws - I want to suppose that answer is yes, but...).

A good engine for you could be an OS12 TZ or simmilar (for about 200 - 250 US$ you have a fairly good engine). If you want to step higher, prepare between 300 and 450US$ as starters...

Really that much 1000$ thats insane. Ok sense the tc3 had problems. What Chassis would you recommend thats all decked out with hopups. I can up the budget to 1000-1200 its just gona take a little longer untill i can buy it.

What Chassis/engine/ and setup does really well?

Im surprised that a nice one costs so much, i mean you can buy a nitro for 400$ these days with everything in it.

yes you can and ill say its not worth it, you dont need a nutso motor a jp stock is good or an os tz is ok but get a mugen mtx4 / kyosho rrr / g4 / serpent 720 / start with a good car and slowly understand what it can do. a ntc3 will give you probs but you can have fun with it.

Alright that sounds good, Thanks for the suggestions on cars and engines.

Now if i get the Serpent 720 and a JP FX12 T-03 Stock.
What kind of items do i need to buy to start it up, i dont know alot about nitros. Will this start with a pull starter or do i need one of them boxes?
I need:
Starter Box
Glow plug

Whats a good Pipe and header (if header isnt part of engine)

If shaft cars interest you check out the Tamiya TG10 Mk.2, or the Kyosho FW-05RR.

Both cars are very fast, handle well and still very competetive.

Cheers,

If you can find an MK.2 Pro, or Mk.2 Chassis, as it has the new mid section 2 speed with re-designed suspension.

Let me put it this way i found the mk1 for 129.99 with free shipping, isnt that a good deal? The mk2 is 590$ thats alot. Is it really worth it for a entry lvl track racer? I mean im not a pro, i just want to spend my money wisely and get some really nice proformance out of it. Will the mk1 do that? Is the mk1 upgradable to a 2 speed?

Thanks for all the advice guys!

Or You can get OFNA CD-3 Pro for $299 and it also include Tune pipe and manifold, and get OS .12TZ for around $200 and buy ofna starterbox for around $60 and for Radio gear I think Airtronics MX-3 w/2 Standar Servos $130 is good enough for starter.....

Check out Racedayhobbies.com they have G4s for $365 and Serpent 720 for $430.Serpent Mega .12 engine combo with pipe and bag for $300
G4s is a excellent buy as it comes with K factory hop ups as standard and a reciever battery.
Only items needed then would be starter box.
Raceday has the Hippo box for $82 and X5 for $110 , id recommend the X5 but you can get boxes cheaper if you shop around.
For $800 plus radio ,body, fuel and glow starter you are sorted.
