Yes. Kokam says the cells can handle it and therefore I stand by what they say.

I have charged my 3200's many times at 6A and my 4800's at 9A

[QUOTE=MrBlack]MRC was supposed to send us a charger to test once this happens and it tests out to work properly then we would recommend it, however until this occurs we cannot recommend using it.

MrBlack, FYI -I tempted fate and purchased a 3200 Carbon and charged it with my MRC 989 charger. I have charged it twice and in both cases the charger stopped charging after the battery reached 8.4 volts. Thus far the MRC 989 appears to be charging it okay. I guess time will tell. My risk I know.

I hope you have better luck then we did and I am sure there are those out there that have and will continue to.

The Cellpro automatically balances as it charges so you don't need a separate balancer. You will need to buy or make an adapter, depending on what brand of Lipo you have.

I bought this charger (cellpro 4S) for my helicopter packs but used it this past weekend on the Orion 3200 pack. I only have one lipo pack and was able to get it charged for all my heats using the 3 amp max. I used anywhere between 30 and 50 percent of the charge (according to the chargers display). Sorry I did not time to see how long it took to charge the pack.
Everyone else around me was using the Orion charger with no complaints.
FMA Direct has another charger that will charge up to 10 amps
I sent you a PM with the link.

So we finally determine we can do 2C and then I find out my Duratrax ICE cant do 2C. I assume setting it to 6400mah and the charge % to 50% isnt the same b/c of the CC-CV charging. Are there chargers that do 2C?

The ICE will do 2C. Just set it to 6400 mAh and it will do the CC/CV correctly. The only thing you will loose is some of the safety logic. The ICE will not charge beyond the capacity you input in. So, if you enter 3200, the ICE will stop charging at 3200 even if the CC/CV is not finished yet.

Thanks! That worked. Looks like it will take about 20min to fully charge the 3200.

Discharged at 45 amps? Try that with a NimH and see the smoke and lower voltage.

Has any-one done a discharge curve for the 4800 or 3200 at 30 or 35 amps? Post curve if possible please.

No it will charge at 2C It is designed as a (idoit proof) charger, thought we know nothing is truly idiot proof it is designed to charge automatically at 1C based on the capacity of the cell entered, it also desides S rating based on voltage so the user only needs to worry about his batteries Nominal voltage and capacity, two things that are primarily labeled on the cells.

MOst other LiPo's besides ours cannot handle more then 1C and since many will use this charger for other brands of Lipo's we felt the need to keep it simple.

The Team Orion Advanced Charging System Charger (the bigger graphite looking one) will charge LiPo at 2C up to 5000mAh.

Later this year we will have another solution for charging but I cannot disclose anything at this point.

What does it do for the capacity vs voltage output versus charging at 3.2A?

pretty much nothing. No performance gain from higher amperage charging

Soooo...OK this is blowing my mind here...

You can charge at a higher rate...

To charge faster...

And not hurt Capacity?
