Default Burnt up throttle servo??

What are the possible reasons that the throttle servo in my Savage met an untimely demise? It just stopped working without warning, so after I decided that it was dead - I opened it up to investigate and found a blackened/charred circuit board

If anyone has some theory, it would be great, there is no saving it but I would like to maybe prevent it in the future.

PS it was an Airtronics 94162

Did it get wet, and was the linkage "free"?

Did you set your endpoints correctly on your transmitter?
If not then your throttle servo might be stressed out,
when you full throttle (carb wide open) the servo movement still wants to move beyond than it should be.

I think ?

As far as I know the linkage was not binding at all, and the endpoints were set up correctly. As for water, I've been very careful to keep it out of the water, but have gotten a splash or two from a nearby puddle - doesn't seem like enough to do damage - however I may be wrong.

Thanks guys
