Yuppers, I'm using the Team Magic pipe. It's not the inline though. Saw it on the shelf of the LHS and it seems pretty cheap compared to those branded pipes, so I thot I wld give it a try.
Anyway, does anyone here knows how big a diff it plays in hafing pipes wif 5mm, 6mm or even 7mm stingers? I haf one of each but to my layman's eyes, it's only the high end. Initially I thot those outlaw designs meant better everything, better acceleration, mid end and high end (coz it has larger volume, larger stinger to boot)...but I think it wld always be a compromise. My idea of pipe combi is juz changing the pipe, hafn't done any manifold cutting yet.
I'm still using the stock gearing on my car and so is he. I suppose I'll just play ard wif my gearing to see if it helps. One thing abt the V1R is, we got few choices on the pinions and spurs, not too sure if 1-2 teeth differences wld help.

Nitro Engine
TO: Motorman and all other Nitro experts,
Need your expertise on choosing the right engine for my ntc3. Currently I am using the stock .12 of AE. I plan to replace it since I want to try racing in our local track (more technical and less straights). My choices are the ff .12 rear exhaust engines:
- Sirio 3 port
- Nova Mega 3 port MS
- OS TR
So far these are the engines I'm looking at my budget will not go beyond US$200.00. I hope I can hear from you soon.

Torque at the top and RPM at the bottom
RC 10 GT
Paris turbo ring

NTC3 rear and side exhaust standard pipes
all others this style and shape (sharp cone on each end long flat band center, single chamber. (above)
Nova mega TPO5
Novarossi 51604
Ofna one piece
Agressive divergent cones low mid biased (above)
Nova Mega TP04
Novarossi 51603
RB X12
RD logic one piece roar legal
moderate divergent cone mid biased
This is the mid list and these all act similar Good all around pipes neither bottom or top end biased (above)
RD logic outlaw
RB X15 outlaw
RB X12 outlaw
RPM top end biased not roar legal due to stinger diameter (above)
Picco 12 pipes
Novarossi 51601
Rex 52625
Mid top end biased roar legal moderate divergent cone agressive convergent cone. hard to find now due to the fact that short rod rever motors are the norm stock. These were the hot ticket on the MT 12.
Now all that said, how to pick a pipe. If the engine is a short rod rever you need a torquier pipe to enhance the bottom end as engine will be biased and take over on the top.
If the engine is a long rod engine you need a rev pipe to help the engine unload on the top.
Another note the stinger diameter has a dramatic effect on the top and bottom end.
Bigger = top end at the sacrifice of low end torque.
Smaller= low end at the sacrifice of high end revs.
pipe length must be considered the same way.
Shorter=top end at the sacrifice of low end torque.
Longer=low end at the sacrifice of high end revs.
Engine expectations
due to rod length. Short rod engines at the top and long rod engines at the bottom.
Very short
HPI 15 FE
Rossi Pixi
Short
RB X12 and all the X12 derivitaves
All Novarossi 12 engines except the MT
All Nova mega 12 engines
Mid length
Picco 12 and 15
Collari 12 all
Long
STS MT
Mugen MT
With all this you should be able to pick a suitable pipe for your car or truck based on the engine it has in it and the track you will run on.
