i'm certainly in it for good close racing, i've raced at a few events where there was just no competition and i won, and it was a boring waste of time. I've also raced in a B final of 5 people, where i finished 3rd, and it was one of the most enjoyable races i've ever had, because we raced 2 inches from each other the entire 5 minutes without incident.

Have a look at the numbers racing in your area.
Where I am Mod is pretty well dead, but everyone runs stock, and can enjoy reasonably priced, close, fun racing.
I suspect that if something does not change, we will see modified racing dissapear at all but the top events in the world, and surely this HOBBY should be geared to the masses, not just the top 1% in the world?

EA
He lives 4 hours away from me and when we are at the same track I can run (as in run away) faster than him...

The last few posts have gotten a bit real and harsh but Hector knows he's my boy and I really like racing with him.

Oh and...EA can you talk to some one at Custom Works into sending Hector a sprint car body for his sedan. If he's going to drive it like he's dirt tracking it he might as well have it look right

would it be a idea to take 27 & 19t spec from 24degree down to some thing a bit more safer ,this a lone will create less heat & amp draw
also put high end drivers off aswell as the stocks won`t be as fast

switching down to 4 cell is not good
a few guy`s piped up & said`japan `have gone 4 cell , Wahoo!! it hasen`t worked
hot bodies & yokomo have not entered this years japan nats in that class
and now they are `thinking` of getting rid of it

4 cells
some car manu will make a proper chassis for this class ,making all these 6 cell chassis obeselete,
lot`s of servo`s don`t work aswell @4.8v , runtime would be a issue , rec packs maybe ? (no thanks) & proper matched 4 cell would be a must have thus they will go straight up to max price limit just for 4 cells , speedo`s have cutoff around 4.8v

Disclaimer
this is just thinking out loud , so i can`t be blamed for my thought`s ,so don`t bash me

That was mentioned about 10 pages back or so, 5 degree timing and standup brushes all round (originally suggested by Big Jim when he was still here)would solve most of the problems with 19t and 27t.

The more posts and comments i read on here the more it appears to me that leaving things as they are (6 cell) is the best option. Open up the rules on different magnets for motors, slight rule change to help the stock classes and let the electronic guys worry about the rest.

Tomorrow is the race day for 4cells Mod and 6cells Mod. I will have all the TQ and A-main data posted here so everyone can see how the laptime difference is. Most likly people will use 10T in 6cells and 6T in 4cells as both race running 8mins.. LOL..

Will try to temp the motor and ESC if I have spare time.

if people in the slower classes are concerned about the change, new 4 cell cars being needed etc.. what's to say the change couldn't be somehting along the lines of mod goes to 4 cells, the others remain the same. stipulate in the rules that chassis' (including prototypes) must be able to take 6 cells.
if batteries become too much in 19 turn & stock move to 5 deg locked timing (by the sounds this should happen asap anyhow).

i dont see any good reason why modified should suffer due to other classes.

the extra power we have these days seems to mean spools being used on tracks where they never would have been previously... so on top of the extra rpm the motors are being used to break more frequently and from higher speeds - which massively adds to motor wear.

mod motors, etc, would become 4 cell specialised for it. no drama there as currently their life is limited anyhow.

special brushes for 4 cell that only last 1 run - doesn't worry me. what we have now only lasts 1 run... atleast we wont have to take multiple deep passes to retrue the comm after each run.

locally there has been expressed intrest by stock drivers in 4 cell mod (who wont while it remains 6 cells) and i dont think there have been many modified drivers opposed to the idea.
