Default I Need Help/Advice on Soldering

My soldering skills leave a great deal to be desired. The biggest thing I have trouble with is soldering multiple wires to one post. A motor post or Dean's plug for instance. Every time I try to get the second wire soldered to the post the solder on the firs one melts and separates.

What's the trick to this?

Make sure you are using a hot iron. 40 watts works very well for wiring. Biggest help I can offer is to tell you to get a "3rd hand". I think Radio Shack sells them and most hobby shops should also. It is a metal base with two arms and alligator clips at the end. You can position the wires where you need them and then use your real arms to hold the iron and solder.

also coat the wire with solder before you stick it on the deans so it is easier to stick it..or do it both ways..... try a 80w ....
