Default Associated Customer Service

Just want your guys opinion on this. Two weekends ago I bought a replacement AE hex wrench tip and the first time I used it, the tip sheared off. I called AE and spoke with them about it and they said that they don't warranty those pieces, but I felt that it may have been defective or not hardened improperly so they told me to send it back in so they could inspect it. I got a copy of the receipt and mailed it in. Today I got it back with a note saying they don't warranty those hex bits, but thanks for sending it in and they sent the old one back. I know they don't warranty them, but I feel that since it broke the first time I used it and went to the trouble to send it in they could have at least replaced it. I mean it's not that expensive of a part and replacing it fosters great customer service. This is the first time I've dealt with their customer service, but I'm not too impressed to say the least. I seen much better (JConcepts, Losi, PN Racing). So am I expecting too much here, or not?? I don't think so and I wouldn't have had a problem had the part failed a month or so down the road, but snapping on the first screw I used it on and then hearing that there's nothing they can do is kinda maddening. Fire away. Thanks. Later.

Was it the tiny .050 tip? We break those all the time whether they be AE or Losi. They take a light touch.

Hey, are you an AZ-RCFreak?

Nope, it was a 1/16th tip. I'm not an AZ RCFreak. What is an AZ RCFreak?

i have an MIP. i only use .050 for pinions. mine seems to hold up fine. all my other MIP's tips look as good as new. also you can send the MIP in and have a new tip ground if neccessary.(for a charge) well at least two years ago when i bought the wrenches. thats what made me buy them, but they show no signs of wear.

The reason I asked is because we have a Vegasracer in the club and I thought maybe you were the same person

I think they are hardened to the point of being brittle.

I prefer the steel drivers with a little flex...

I have found some decent ones at Sears with the mirco screwdrivers. The two common sizes for AE 1/16 and the otherone 5/64 or whatever it is.

If anone is interested I can get the Craftsman part number for you.
