I know the proper care for IB's vs GP's. I was taking care of packs that were mistreated by others because they didn't know any better. Thanks though, I'm sure some others will benefit from that info.
Gary you said you tested an old pack, not a bad pack. Most of my older packs actually got better. I am referring to the pulse discharge helps cells that have been treated wrong. I put a pack on the MM unit and the 6 cells were all over in run time from 390 to 560. IR was up around 14 for each cell. volts were all over. after 4 cycles that same pack had all 6 cells within 30 seconds (around 450 if I remember correctly) the IR was down around 7 for each cell and the voltage was 1.225 acrossed the board.

I just opened another unit since I plan to have 2 in my pits I will get you some info soon also. I use this devise just like the MM unit I have . Tray cells Linear 5amps at 0.70 cutoff before charging batteries (6 cells). After running I tray them pules 30amps with 0.90 cutoff. I have seen good results with my MM doing those steps and if I plan on not racing for more than a week I will add 500 sec of charge in pack.

No its not different. It gives the actual internal resistance for the entire pack (Like 11.8), as well as the AIR for each individual cell (Like 1.8) at the end of the discharge cycle...

Well I for 1 like to see how much RT I had left right after a run by doing a 30amp discharge after a run. Also keeps things easy knowing you have 500 sec of time in batteries as there may be a time you didn't have that RT in pack you thought. Just better to be safe and take the extra step with the cost of todays cells. If I do have time I would discharge pack down at 30amp pulse day before to 0.90 if I had the 500 sec of rt in pack. Then raceday that weekend go back to 5amp linear 0.70..

wow nice little unit.
i love the aa batteries. no more wires. i can take the unit with me in my computer room or work and just discharge there.
only thing i would of liked is the external wire be a banana plug type. that way if you never use the external discharge you can unplug it from the unit.
also the red light to blink indefinitly after it has finished discharging untill somone presses the button.
also some fold down legs, so the unit can be angled 45deg to view the screen easier.

First off, this HAS to be the coolest RC toy I bought this week, man!!!
But seriously, it does appear to work pretty well. I wanted to share one thing that I've noticed that may help those that are having contact problems.
Whenever I've loaded a pack into it, I noticed that as you close the levers, the upper clamp seems to deflect to absorb almost all of the load, while the battery pack remains stationary and thus the lower clamp doesn't receive much pressure at all.
To help alleviate this, I've made a point of "skating" the pack up and down between the two sets of terminals until it looks evenly balanced. Then I start the discharge. I've also been hitting the cell ends with Scotchbrite right before I drop it in, just because most of the metals involved can oxidize to some degree, and I don't want that getting in the way.

I finally go my Discharger. I love it. I also love the much more discharger.
After a run it took abou 29 minutes to dishcarge 4200 IB cells. I continued to run these packs and discharge them with the discharger. My voltage went up after 5 uses by .010. Thats pretty decent. The pack labels were 1.230 at start. On the spintec they were 1.290. Great combination.
