Hello everyone !
I just wanted to ask if anyone else have had the problem im having with my 8-T.
The problem is that i cant get the front diff to be smooth, im not sure how to explain this but here we go The front diff feels realy, " notchy " like when i turn the pinion, its not smooth, it seems like the pinion and ring gear mesh is too tight, the best i can get it is when i loosen the screws that holds the diffcases together, but even then its not smooth. its been like this since i bought it, but i thought that maybe after a few runs it would " break in " but not so, any advice ??
Thanks.

are you using shims on either side of you diff ,other than that it could only be a fault in the moulding of the housing where the pinion or the diff bearings go
anyone else

You are not alone. I, and along with many others have this issue also. Mine was like that when it was new and still does it even after many gallons. Just loosen the front case screws up until it feels smooth. Haven't had any problems all last summer by doing this.

I was messing around the other day with my 8ight and found something odd. I'm going to look over the T today and see if the same deal exists.
On the center rear CV joint coupler. I noticed that if the pinion is allowed to move back and forth there is a notchy feeling when the pinion is pressed rearwards towards the crown gear. But if the pinion is pulled towards the front of the truck it is smooth as butter. So I moved the set screw on the CV coupler back on the pinion shaft so it would hold the pinion away from the crown gear a bit. But I didnt' get the coupler too close to the pinion bearing and cause over heating.
Just FYI
