Battery burnout
Hi all,
I got some Reedy Mini Max batteries and I think I may have blundered the first charge with one of them, charginging it at too high an amp rate: The battery only lasts a couple of minutes. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can work out what's wrong or if I can bring the battery back to life???

I am not familiar with those particular batteries that you mentioned, but it could be that they false peaked which would leave you with a incomplete charge. When the batteries are done charging, they should be warm. Usually 110-120 degrees F. If they are not, you probably did not get a full charge. What type of batteries are they, and what amperage did you charge them at?

They are 1100mha batteries for 1/18th scale. I used a charger that has a little nob that you rotate to change the amp level from 1 to 4 amps and i didn't check it prior to charging. I'm hoping it false peaked and am aware that 1100's shouldn't be charged at more than 1 amp.
I've just discharged the battery as much as i can and am charging it at 0.2 amps with as low a peak detection that I can to see if it charges better as a once off, the will resume normal charging in the future if so.
This all happened after the first charge... If I had chaged the battery once at 4 amps (worst case scenario) would that destroy the battery?

good. I normally charge my packs at 1.9-2amps for just bashing. I charge my race pack at 1.5.

Interesting Hotrod... How long do they last charging at those rates? Approximately how many charge cycles do you think you've put through them?

my mini max battery for my 18T prolly lasts 20-25 minutes with the small tires on at 2.0amps. That has prolly had about 30 chareges tru it. My race batts for my MRS4 are 1100 saddle pack, which are at 1.9a for 5 minute heats, and at 1.5 for 8 minute mains. Prolly has about 15-20 charges through it.
