BANZAI Motors
I've used a pair of wire cutters/dykes and pryed between the pinion and motor to get it off. You have to be carefull not to bend the shaft.

Get an old school pinion puller!
We ran 30 min on a 5200 battery with our slash for the slash-a-polusa race.
I am not sure what the largest hard case lipo I have seen. Trinity has a 5300 and Reedy has a 5000. Losi has a 5000 as well. Being we were running a bushing mabuchi motor you should easily get 30 with a BL motor. What turn you planning on running? 13.5 or 10.5. I would think a 10.5 would be a good balance of power vs amp draw.

Scott I did what you said it slide off with some effort.
Next time I'll make sure to use proper size of hex driver. LOL
Casper,
I was thinking a little more than a 10.5 since he'd be against nitro stadium trucks. Say the 7.5, but nothing more. I'm not sure how well a 10.5 would keep up with the Nitro--do you know?
I want him to be able to be competitive ... OK honestly, I'd love to see him wax a few of them gas guys. LOL

I would try the dykes between the motor and pinion and just keep working it a little at a time.

For reference (I know not a truck) but my 2wd with a13.5 for a 5 min race (with two warm up laps) used about 700mah on my IP3800 35C lipo. My 4wd running a 6.5 with the same battery used almost 1400mah for the same race duration.
A 10.5 is faster then you might think if geared right.
I think a 10.5 would be great against most gas motors. Electric already have an advantage in more bottom end power and I don't think you would be lacking top speed against those guys with a 10.5. Also you will have a huge advantage if they don't make you pit. They will have to pit at least 2-3 times in 30min. Not sure if you could make it with a 7.5 but it would be fun trying. I think you could safetly drive the 10.5 hard for the whole time. Wouldn't know until I tried though.

Thanks for the insight Casper.
I was told he would have to make a 3-second stop. (I'm guessing a couple.)
I'll see what Trinity and Reedy has for something around 5000 MAh -- Of course unless Banzai will have a large MAh Lipo like that! Judi or Scott?
He's going to have a race against one guy we know in a couple weeks with a nitro stadium truck, so that'll give us a good idea.
Of course in a longer race like that--it's about staying on the track and finishing. Should be cool. Going to have to start having him get use to driving longer than 5-6min. :P
Again thanks for the inputs!

Be smooth and consistant. Being fast is not always necessary to win a long race. Nitro guys run into all sorts of problems in there races with engine troubles and flame outs. You have a definate advantage IMO running electric!
Hey there Judi..
Here are some pics of the new Chassis...

I am working on a Scaler chassis based on the Axial drivetrain, More for myself kind of stuff. I am making a few extras for people...
Here is a Web page shot for ya Scott...
Thanks for the hard work on making these crawler motors happen..BRUSHED baby!!...The smoothest power/torque you can buy for the crawlin scene

Great day to race!
Jason made the A-main and placed 4th out of eleven 19-turn Trucks!
Was quiet a different track surface then what he's use too, but he kept the truck between the rails and all 4-wheels down.
Said we HAVE to go back next week for their points race, plus we were told even more trucks will be there to run.
****************
Question -- looking to buy a new buggy -- thinking XXX-CR or BK2.
Does anyone drive either and what are everyone's feeling of each?
Thanks
-Drew

The CR is obviously the newer car. I like the CR but think I like the standard steering better then the new CR rack. I think you would be happy with either car.
Hello. Figured I'd give an update on how things are in Michigan. We've got a neat winter series that's been running forever out here. Each race gets like 160 entries and we're there til 1 in the morning. I've been running the Banzai 17.5 in our rather large stock buggy class and been doing real well with it. Gearing it 33/66 in an X-Factory X-6 (same internal ratio as a B4). On Wednesday nights at Factory Tracks Raceway there's a 10.5 class and the Banzai 10.5 is great out there. I gear it at 26/78, but that motor seems to have a really wide range of gear options. I can gear it down almost to a 20 and it's still pretty decent and I can go up to a 30, and it gets warm, but under 180. Very flexible.
Question: Will you be carrying the Speedpassion 1/8th motors? That's a big class up here.
