From what I've seen after years of racing R/C, including TC's on some very rough parking lots with curbs, boards, etc...
You can make a TC3 BULLET PROOF by using the RPM front bumper, then adding on the BRP (Bud's Racing Products) Kydex bumper on top of the RPM... Then at the rear, add the BRP "nerf wings" to the sides of the chassis, and the A-arms are about as protected as possible, yet it's all hidden under the body....

I have an FK04 and a T2.
The FK04 in 8 months of racing broke only one or two parts. And thats with some pretty big hits.
I have had much more break on my T2 than the 04 and I have only had it a few months.
I think the 04 is also a VERY durrable car.

tl-01 baddest tank of them all my 10 yr old been racing it for 5 year one or two turn buckles and tires,
had the pro 4, and know an X-ray fk'05 both good never broke or have twealed the x-ray ,pro4 will tweak but almost indestructable.

Here's a vote for ANY later Tamiya (04, 05, Evo-III, IV, 415) with the standard suspension. Never once broke an arm on anything...at most a bent hinge pin ($3.XX a set for the whole car) or stripped upright.
X-rays are pretty tough from what I've seen, but parts are kinda steep. I've also got a friend on here that's had fairly minor "incidents" a couple times...and broken the corner of the chassis both times...$$$
Tamiyas are REALLY stout and the parts are REALLY cheap.

I just stopped using my TC3 and bought a used XRay 05 for this very reason. World of difference. Im no pro driver but the 05 took the hits my TC3 would easily have broken. I really didnt want to get rid of my TC3 but it was just too fragile, especially on carpet. If you had the TC4 you could get a PDub bumper and that would help a bit. Associated needs to make sturdier parts for on road stuff, maybe a carpet spec stuff or whatever.

I would agree that the TC3 is fragile, especially with graphite parts. I ran the TC3 until this year, and just got tired of constantly fixing this and that from the smallest of impacts with boards / cars.
I switched to a FK05 mid season, and would have to say it is a tank, especially with a P Dub bumper. I broke four front rims, and no sign of any damage to the car.

I have to disagree about the Pro4
The Pro4 is my third TC in a year. First was an AE TC4 that was pretty solid, but I couldn't get it to handle well, so my 6 year old son drives it now. Second was a Losi JRX-s. It was also fairly strong, but I got tired of waiting for upgraded parts that were needed to fix the handling. I also got tired of adjusting belts.
I finally got a Hara Pro4. It is a great car. It handles well and is well built. However, with either the 1-way or the spool in front, it will destroy dog bones in the front even with fairly gentle crashes. My driving has improved quite a bit since I raced the TC4, yet I have broken / bent far more dog bones on the Pro4 than on the TC4. I also managed to wreck a set of front diff gears on the Pro4 and never had this problem on the TC4.
Based on nothing other than looks, I'd guess the stock Tamiya TA-05 is pretty tough. It's also fairly cheap although replacement parts may be expensive.

Yea...the old pro 2 was great for durability.
I wish HPI would bring it back with the current belt layout and Pro 4 arms. I would be all over it.
If you have a Tc3 get the Penguin bumper and a good foam bumber. You won't break anything there after.
Xray05 held up very well and it was very easy to drive. Another great car. I liked the larger wheel bearings and hubs that I wish were carried over to the T2.
