guys i not sure if anyone has notice this, the SPP ball-joints 5.8mm frame #903230 is definitely the best optional upgrade, it's so cheap n so much smoother than original ball-joint frames came with the car kit...

i've juz replaced my my rear diff oil to 20,000cst coz i'm still very new i can't manage to control the on power oversteer... is ther anyway or proper guide to rebuild shocks???

local track here has a almost 200ft straight with long sweeper n some short mid to low speed corners... i'll to get a front diff n try it on... i lost mine ... wat cst oil should i use for the front??? thicker/ lighter/same as rear???

Hi,

Just my 2 cents: Usually 30k for the rear diff and 50k for the front diff will keep the car in balance provided with proper shock oil selection and springs setup.

To rebuild the shocks, this is what I do: -
Drain the previous oil completely and wash out the remainder oil in the shocks with a nitro buster/motor spray cleaner. Change the sponge as well should u decided to change the oil vicosity.

When the above is done, fill up the shocks fully with new oil and leave it for atleast 10mins. Assuming that ur shock piston is fitted with the new sponge, damn the sponge with the same oil as it is in the cannister (1 or 2 drops) then massage it gently but thoroughly to ensure the sponge is evenly soaked.

Move the shock piston half way up the shock shaft, slowly replace the shaft into the shock cannister. While doing so, you'll see oil bleeding out quite a bit but thats ok as your piston is forcing out surplus oil. Now slowly screw in 2/3 rounds and stop while leaving a gap for further bleeding. Then gently push down the shaft to the end of the cannister and wait a few sec, then pull out the shaft slowly but completely out. At this point, the air bubbles will be mostly depleted. Now screw in the shock piston completely into the cannister (Finger tight) and wipe away the surplus oil and retighten the shocks with a cloth over the the plastic cap. This is to ensure no leakage. Do not overtighten by using a nose plier as u might damage the 'o' rings inside. Now u have completed 1 shock and do the same to the rest. Testing: Compress the shocks together, u shall get a nice slow rebound (Depending on oil vicosity).

Recommendation: 50wt vicosity oil with blue springs are very good for high speed sweepers and mid corner exit.

Tips: Using front diff will tend to lose a littler steering. Try to go around the RC (Roll Center) setup. If this gives u a smooth feeling after doing so but still lack of steering, try out various caster angle on a 0 front toe and when u have fine tune this setup.. Alignment and ride height would be ur final option.

Let me know if this works for u.. Have a nice drive..

Cheers,
Raymond Chan

Hi Flywheel,

I wish I could, but I'm in Australia now... Just got back from sight seeing with my family in Melbourne. Weather here is not too bad..24degree. Anyways, go get help from OCY or Anthony Wee. They are arriving this Friday morning. FYI, I like running front spool too but such big track like HMS, I suggest you go diff.. You'll be faster at corner exit.

Cheers,

Change your rear shock holes from 3 to 2. The rear will be much better under accel out of a corner.
That's pretty much THE major fix for the 720 oversteering problem

I second that

Looks like a great set-up. I might have to try a few things from that set-up

i was putting my kit together and when i went to install rear dog bones , one was fine and the other ...the pin at the end was off set.....it would'nt go in the axle , so i went and bought 2 new ones and i'll be damned if both of these weren't the same way...so i had to fix my original and took the others back....hummmm Quality control?.....some how i expected more from Serpent... i still luv the car but it didn't seem right...

With the advent of the new spring sets, I found it difficult to get the new color distribution straight in my head. I made up this chart which gives a better visualization of how the old springs line up against the new ones. I hope you find it useful.

rear 2 holes with yellow springs n 35,000 cwt oil doesn't work for me... i tends to slip away more than 3 holes with same oil...
