I see that Serpent has added a hard spring for the servo saver (#803203) as an option. How does this effect steering?

I'm running a one-way.
42 in the rear? I see where you are going with this, but the track is very aggressive/corse. I'll give it a try

It will give you more positive steering.

What would happen some time is the old springs wears out. Once this happens you lose steering, mainly in the middle of the turn. With a stiffer spring the wheels will hold the position, even under the stress of the turns.

720 just wants a more aggressive tire package then most are use too. You should be fine on the surface, if you get the bite you need and wear is high on the front tires you may have to compramise on some bite for tire wear. endpoints can be a factor here too, you may be sliding the front tires and need to turn the endpoints down to allow the tires to grip instead of slide in the midddle of the corner.

I noticed that too but I normally just adjust the spring collar nut tighter.

When I built my kit, I just added a washer there to make it tighter.

i would like to use lightened steel pinion gear for the 1st gear (17T). is there any? who makes them and where can i order this part?
i understand aluminum is lighter and better for acceleration but i believe its easy to lose track of the pinion wear that eventually will strip the spur (which is what happened to me). lightened steel should be harder and should relieve me of this problem

I used to do the same. But using a washer creates less room for the saver to work which could lead to servo damage. The new spring makes the steering more positive whilst retaining full protection.
