Any of the resident Sphere comp experts that can tell me if there is anything I should watch out for when mating this esc to a Novak 13.5 SS Pro? I'd rather learn from others than burn out something if there is some pitfall to watch out for.

Plug it in and go. There is nothing to it. If you have the sintered rotor turn the drag brake down to between level 0 to level 2 depending on the feel you like. After setting everthing up reduce you brake endpoint so when you slam the brakes the car slows down at a nice rate. If you leave you brakes at maximum and you hit the brakes hard you can lock up the wheels...this is not good.

My Sphere has been kind of glitchy lately. Sometimes the blue and red lights will blink randomly and I will lose control of the steering and or throttle. Usually just rebooting it and my radio a couple of times fixes the issue for a while. Ive rebound my spektrum and reset the ESC but it continues. Any idea?

That has happened to me when I hold my Futaba/Spektrum transmitter too close to the car.

It out now. If you order a Sphere Comp, you'll get the 2007 edition.

Is this happening when the radio is right next to you car or all the time no matter how close the radio is. I have heard that this can happen due to the extremely strong signal from a radio that is too clse to the car. Try moving the radios just a couple feet away and see if it still happens.

I only notice it when the radio is on which makes me think it might be that but at the same time Ive had it take off on its own on the track or turn abruptly. Maybe they are different issues. Next time it happens I will try moving the radio to see what it is.

Sorry, it can't be updated. The differences are very minimal so you will not need to upgrade. Larger capacitor, 8 map settings instead of 6. Couple of others I can't remember (they are mentioned earlier in this thread by burito)

The basic plattform on SphereComp and SphereComp "2007 Edition" is the same, but still there are few components which are different (mainly to make it bulletproof under all racing circumstances). The s/w is quite a lot different, as explained earlier, mainly for better feel for all classes, magnets and winds.

If you run on big tracks and/or 5 cell, the new x11 3.5 should be a blast. And for that i think you need the TC spec (80750)...

No problems. For on-road...Use max punch setting and advance the timing on the 13.5 to max too. It will be a rocket. Still haven't driven any car with a Novak ESC that compares to the acceleration of my Sphere Comp 2007 ESC. Was second at our Region 12 Carpet Regionals this past weekend in 13.5 BL Class and that is about 5 positions higher than last year. Yeeeeeeeee Ha! Gearing ranges from 5.2 for tight carpet track to probably 4.75 for wide open asphalt layout.

Putting a 2.4mm chassis RDX together with Sphere (from Billy today) and another Novak 13.5. Still have some parts to go to be complete.

What? You always spank everyone at your home track young'in.
