What will be a decent starting point for rubber tire 13.5 racing? I'm running 48 pitch with the stock 87t spur.
Thanks

Something around a 78 tooth spur will be needed to fit a large enough pinion on the TC5 for 13.5 racing...If you are using a 78t, somewhere around a 31-35 tooth pinion is in the ballpark depending on the size of the track.

Equipment
Just looking for experience w/ certain equipment:
The new LRP 13.5 BL Motors - Any Good? Better, Worse than Novak?
Reedy Lipos - Better, Worse than Trak Power?
Thanks!

Thats a little on the warm side but its fine. You may want ot drop a tooth or go down on the ESC timing a setting.

Were you just running that or actually racing at that 8/1 ratio? Reason I ask is the ESC on the Mambas will often run hotter then the motors. 170 is fine for a MM motor, but my guess is a mod race at 8 to 1 you'll overheat. I'd go 9.0 or higher (87 / 19) and timing set to lowest and not to steep on the drag brake to keep heat down. Temp both speed control and motor and adjust as needed. The Mamba tolerates heat well, 190 on ESC at race end is no big deal.

I agree, they can really take the heat. I have the 7700 set-up in mj BJ4-WE, and I have gotten the motor up to 225-230*F, and the ESC up to around 205*F and both still work just fine (although I should put a smaller motor in that car as that is a lot of power for a off-raod car).
