Why not just wait for what AE releases. Then judge it. Preferably after you have driven one.

GRASSHOPPER:Shaft and belt can live in harmony!
If AE wants to include a belt drive car in their product line, why not use a platform that is proven rather than spend thousands of dollars in R/D on a one of a kind belt drive design , then it not be worth a dam? Now what would you do? Think about it! Why not have both available and let the racer decide which one he wants! VARIETY IS THE SPICE OF LIFE!

With that said there is only so much you can do with a car 1:1 or 1:10. If the new Associated car performs well people will buy it...period. I'm sure people are upset that Associated didn't come up with the design, but heck if that was that big of an issue I should start a thread about how my Panasonic HDTV looks JUST like a Sony...damn you Panasonic.

I'm suprized AE took the easy way in. I guess if you can't beat em' join em. I thought they'd be a lil' different with some innovations. Not a copy. Good to see that peeps will be buying US made kits instead of those overpriced overseas kits though. I'm getting a new kit this carpet season and actually thought about waiting for this one, but after seeing it. I will just wait for the JRXS-R.

Too bad Associated didn't build a mid motor saddle pack design like the BJ4 Worlds edition car. (http://www.jconcepts.net/shop/produc...roducts_id/114) That way they could have kept the shaft drive AND gotten a car with better balance. Not sure how that design would work on carpet, but it does well on offroad.
The only belt drive car I've even owned is an old HPI RS4 Sport. Not the greatest car, but a lot quieter than a shaft drive. However, I race but with a bit of a basher mentality. I love the durability of the TC3. If you ever run a demolition derby or figure 8 race, the TC3 is a tank. Also, if you ever have the chance to run a TC3 at a Velodrome track it is worth it to hear the shaft spinning a high rpm - 55mph+ and it sounds like a turbine. However, the limitations of the shaft drive with gearing choices do give belt drives an advantage.
For oval racing I'm going to stick with my TC3, but for on-road I might just have to pick up an Associated belt drive offering. In the end, I like that we have so many choices now.
