One thing i would say is dont expect a setup to work at one track to the next or from one person to the other.

I would use this setup as a base and go from there. That is if your running rubber asphalt. which from the setup you posted seams like it.

Anyone know what the smallest 64p spur gear is that you can use; i.e., to get within a 4.0-4.5 FDR, and still have the spur/pinion mesh?

Why would you have to use a small spur?

100/50 will give you 4FDR
100/42 will give you 4.5FDR

Both of these combos will work just fine and all of the FDRs in between as well.

i think 69/34 ( 48 pitch) will get you a 4.0

Smaller spur will let me use the pinions I already have. I tried an 88 tooth spur and it wouldn't mesh with a 44 tooth pinion. So I'm using a 108 spur now, but need new pinions to get that low. I'll try the 100 tooth spur. Thanks!

have you put all titanium screws that will get you a few grams!! but most people running 5 cell mod are always trying to get weight down even small servos you name it wateva it takes!! then you will prob be able to add weight hopefully in the right places!!

I've just re-built my TC5 in 5cell layout.
It comes in at 1420, balanced side to side I only had to add 45grams, and I didn't do anything to lighten it at all.

or8ital - if you mean the real TC5 spool, instead of the diff conversion, I ordered one Saturday night from amainhobbies dot com. THey had them in stock then.

wallstreet - Thanks for the reference to the ae forum. Checked it out and found a lot of good info there. Learned I wasn't the only one loosing a front wheel during a race. I thought I had failed to properly tighten a wheel nut, but found this happens a lot for some reason. In my first race with the TC5R Sat night, it would appear I experienced just about every problem discussed on that forum

I need recomendations of pinions gears and spur gears using a 4.5 BL LRP motor with a LRP sphere TC. I could use 64pitch spur on the tc5? I will apreciate all your ideas. Thank
