Default gtx question

bought a brand new novak gtx esc. i plugged it in and it makes a high pitch noise. is this a defected esc or is it still good. thanks for the help.

Just plugged it into the battery or to the motor as well? It obviously shouldnt make that noise but are you sure everything is hooked up properly? If so then I would guess defective.

yes everything is plugged in correctly. checked and double checked.

IF the motor is connected to the ESC, and you have not yet gone through the full setup procedure, the ESC may be "almost" making the motor run... Since modern speed controls use high frequency pulses to control motor speed, they make the motor "sing" and near stall speeds (pulses to motor, but not enough for it to start turning)...

Go through the setup process CAREFULLY, so that the neutral setting is correct -- it should be quiet, but may "sing" as you just barely start to apply throttle....
