question: if i took an HPI saturn 20t/ansmann clash 21t silvercan and sandblasted it, would it pass for a stock silver can? or would someone spot something... because they seem to be OEM mabuchis or somethig similar.

well, i don't race, i just want to know if it would pass as one. i doubt it would even need sandblasting, just the label peeled off.

Nope. Too easy to spot. I don't understand the logic. Why go thru all that trouble unless you're racing or just trying to impress with your fast silvercan

No thoughts on my?
Don’t think it's necessary to post on new thread.

The thing is much faster in reverse then forward. Is there anything I can do to fix this? I assume this has been covered; a good link would be appreciated

its timing is out. have you been tweaking the stack? if so turn it back the other way. or put your motor on the other side of the car so it spins the shaft/belt the same way but the motor is going round the wrong way...

as for turning the motor it's on a mini and it would be sticking out of the car if i fliped it.

I guess I will pick up another motor
ok sounds like it came out of the factory faulty. are you running it in the car or on a battery pack/power supply? it could be your radio endpoints not set up properly.

Default mabuchi

Hi,

I believe mabuchi's are designed to be faster in reverse (clockwise) rotation. So maybe nothing wrong with your motor.

good luck.

i think they have 0deg timing so they are the same in forward and reverse. most electric drills run mabuchis. they run the same both ways.

ChuckWick357 Hey guys,

Chuck, I had the exact same thing happen to one of my brand new Mabuci motors. I ran it in reverse just a little bit too long in some water, the brushes were about 3/4 gone. After that the thing was ballist in reverse but a dog running forward. The bushes are very soft on some of the Mabuci motors so they seat very quickly to the comm especially in water. What happened was the brushes were actually rapped around the com which advanced the timing and gave the motor higher RPM (at lower torque). The only problem was it happened in reverse. Opps

I was just trying to build a motor to keep up with Doc
