Default Getting tha MOST out of 3800's

Hi all. i'm looking for advice on getting the absolute Most out of the IB 3800's. There's only 6 or 7 race days left in our carpet on-road season and i don't care if the batts die before then! i want then to scream for at least 3 race week-ends.
so what's the best method to make these bad-boys killers? some matchers say to dead-short...some say not to.....some even say to use it twice in one day! i'm stumped.

Since you don't what will happen to the batteries

tray them just before you charge them
use them twice a day
on the last race dead-sort them

I don't know about dead shorting. Don't think its good for them, from what I hear.

But I do hear that charging at 9-10 amps really makes these cells lively. Life span is unknown, but if you don't care about it, then go for it.

Tray just before charge.
Discharge at 30 amps after race.

Charge at 10amps
Discharge at 30/35amps
Tray right before charging again

packs are best on the 2nd or 3rd charge of the day as along as you give them enough time to cool down between.

Five minutes before your run, put the pack in the microwave on HIGH for 30 seconds.

Just kidding.

Pete... No deadshorting or 10 amp charging unless you want to fade at 2 minute mark..LOl

Charge 6 amps .03 peak detect
Discharge at 30 -35 amps when done racing down to .90 per cell (5.40) 6 cell
Put pack away till next run
Tray for 1 minute unless lites on discharge tray dim first and remove
Carage again

i dead shorted my packs and it livened them up big time! they went really good for a couple of meets and now theyre back to normal.
Make sure that there is absolutely no charge in the cells
dont charge at 10amps your batteries wont last the race 6 would be the most you would want.

Tag's method has been what I have done for months. It hasn't let me down yet.

No deadshorting for me, ever... Tried it a while back just for an experiment and ended up giving the pack to a kid at the track.

I beg to differ, I charge my IB3800's at 10amps and they last 5 mins in stock TC and 8 mins in stock 1/12. Everyone in stock at Snowbirds was charging at 10amps as well and they all lasted their mains. I can pull the battery after the main and still discharge at 35amps for 120+ seconds.

I dont think runtime is the issue in stock when charging at 10A. Yeah, they will have more rip, especially in stock, but the life of the pack will definitely be shortened. Snowbirds and club racing is very different. Snowbirds-10A Club racing 6-7A.

I agree that you can charge that high once and a while, but at what cost. Do that for a few weekends and re-match them along side cells that were charged at 6 amps and see where they stand. They will work fine for a while but the excess heat will eventually get to them and they will fade sooner.

If you charge at a high amp rate, do a thermal cutoff charge.

Read. The guy who started this thread says he doesn't give a hootenay about longevity. Anthony's probably the only one answering his question correctly.

Exactly, first guy to get it! The guy who posted, like myself, cares less how long the packs last. If they are good for 6 race weekends oh well, throw them away and buy more.
