Default Which radio?

Hi,

which radio should I get:

Ko Propo EX-10 Helios OR Futaba 3PK OR Spektrum DX2?

The Helios and DX2 are half the price of the 3PK, please list some pros and cons of each if possible,

TIA

The Helios should be closer in price tot he 3PK than to the DX2....unless you're looking at the black 3PK with Synth module...even then it should be a far cry from twice the price.

I wasn't that impressed with the DX2. It is missing some common features and didn't feel as comfortable in my hand as the others.

Ultimately that's what you should rely on...how the unit feels in your hand.

I love my 3PK, but I have also been impressed with the feel of the Helios (or JR Z-1) and the M11.

I've held the M11 with a VXR LiPo pack and it felt better than stock to me....I'm currently using a VXR LiPo in my 3PK and I can't see wanting to change any time soon.

Some things to help you.

What radio system do you currently have? Do you want the new radio to be compatible with what you currently have?

Do you run Nitro? The 3pk is a great nitro radio. The other radios do not have some of the fine-tuning Nitro adjustments.

Go around your track and ask to hold those radios, one might not be comfortable. Comfort is something that you have to be concerned with.

Hope that helps.

Snowy.

Thanks for the replies so far,

Currently, I have an Agressor AM system

I run electric, and I cannot get Airtronics M11 or M8 (or any Airtronics radio)

Like others have said, see if you can handle the different radios and even drive a car with them. Both have similar features. I've used the 3PK for 2 years. It is a great radio for both nitro and electric and I'm a visual kind of guy so the display is great. Then this fall I made the mistake of trying a friends Helios with the angled drop-down wheel. Felt like a glove in my hand, it was so comfortable. I keep my left wrist fairly straight and the angled wheel gave me a much better grip on the wheel. So I went out and got one and personally feel it's the most comfortable radio to hold. There are even different thickness grips to adjust the feel. My son still prefers the 3PK so it's a matter of what feels best for you.

Futaba has a thick grip for the 3PK as well...I don't even have to grip the handle...it just rests in place perfectly

This is not going to be a thread where someone will be able to answer you question for you. You will ultimately have to decide for yourself. I had an XS3, M8 and now have an EX-10. Reason I have the Helios now is because I did not like the way the M8 felt in my hand and was just not comfortable for me. It is a great radio, was just not wild about how it felt. The XS3 was a good radio as well but it would not allow me to go to Spektrum. If you have guys at your local track that have the radios you are considering, ask them if you can try them out and see what feels good to you. Don't buy the replies that Airtronics is the best or JR is the best, just try them out and see. There is no best, just what feels comfortable to you.

I love my KO Ex-10 Helios. Best radio I have ever had. Much better balance than the 3PK.

I just love 3KP, i ll suffest you to have 3KP. These pistol grip systems are perfect for beginners and sport racers alike. In top-level racing, speed and accuracy are everything. And with the 3PK in hand, drivers have everything they need to get the jump on the competition. The innovative "Adjuster" feature makes being "out of tune" obsolete, by allowing the racer to electronically restore settings degraded by time or vibration. Plus, the 3PK is the only system available with an HRS (High Response Speed) transmission mode—FM technology so advanced that it required the creation of an exclusive feature (MC Set-Up) just to bring ESCs "up to speed" with HRS's higher signal rates.

The 3PK's three-tiered menu, innovative "Direct Select" feature and rear-mounted backlit LCD put programming speed—and the 3PK's full competitive potential—within easy reach of any serious racer.

I'll 2nd Austins choice Airtronics M11or12. Had a M8 for years and sold it to get a DX3pro. Radio broke at a big race after the 1st qualifier. It vibrated and would not turn off and the screen went blank. The next month bought a M12. You get what you pay for!
