Got my Orion 3600 in the ride today. As GreaseMonkey stated, I just had to dremel the layshaft retainer a small amount...not enough to affect the integrity
Too bad the forcast is for rain I'll have to test it out next weekend

Bulldog2,
Try and find Rod M at the track, he will be there and SHOULD have supplies, not 100% on what hopups he has in stock with him, but he should be able to help out.
All the best, and good luck at the TITC!
Good luck also to all the Aussie TOP drivers going!... show em what we're made of!
Cheers,
Robbie

Building the car the middle layshaft does not seem right.. There is an extreme play/movement side to side, I'm talking about 3-4 mm side to side movement.
I've looked at the exploded diagram and the manual to see if I did something wrong but can't find the error...... Do I need to shim it out?

I have some shims on mine but well under 1mm, certainly not 3/4. This is using all kit parts with the plastic bulkhead. Is everything located in place right?
By the way it is surprising how 1/10th of a mm can feel like 1mm when you are looking at play in parts, 4mm is the width of the spur gear!

Just shim it out on both sides.

I built my 3rd chassis last week which is a 2008 option kit and the centre layshaft had about a mm on each side that i had to shim.
Lately i found shims to be a very important part of my tool box.
nyway im of to the 1st round of nationals this coming weekend and am so looking forward to it.
Will be running Mod, 27T superstock and Open stock (Johnson silver can)

I think depending on what spur you run makes a difference also.
I could be wrong but thinner spurs make the space larger, correct me if i'm wrong, whereas thicker spurs fill the space up more... or spread the pulleys out a little.
Either way just shim it out and it'll be fine.
Cheers
